At the bare minimum you'd expect he's asked for a change in the transfer policy with more of a say, and I hope theyve told him they are willing to be flexible with a good budget.

Don't want to say it but our budget will be lower than ever- it could get worse before it gets any better. I think some fans optimistically hope he will be backed just because he won promotion with us; if you feel that way I think you're being very very naive. With no change of ownership or investment we are a sitting duck who could sink even further, especially if the recruitment this window isn't 8/10 minimum. It's a TOTAL rebuild that needs doing, bigger than any season I can remember and I don't have faith in this board to move us forward. Doesn't mean I don't have faith in Stendel but I can't see a world where he gets a squad even half as good as the one he had first time around. Sad, sad reality but one we need to acknowledge as a fanbase. We're sleepwalking to relegation. #barnsleyfc

@noevidenceleft @ScottyFEFL I agree but Connor didnt exactly have much to bargain with. New Manager, familiar club, little to no investment. Stendel was in contract with a club he's been with for years. They have to have made commitments to bring him in, and he will hold them to them guarantee'd.

@bfcharri They have made a rod for their back with this appointment. The man is loved by most in Barnsley, and as such that comes with expectations he wont be sold down the river. May be Naive of me but they HAVE to know that, or they really are clueless.

If he’s not backed and doesn’t succeed than the board will really lose the fanbase. A proven winner at this level, incredible at developing young players and plays fast attacking football. Uproar if he’s not backed properly.
