It's not every day I see a Common Rose Finch on my way past the bins, almost but not quite in the garden. It didn't stop there long, but I spent the rest of the day with binoculars to hand & gave the bird baths an extra special clean! A fine piece of footage I think you'll agree!

Loads of orange tip butterflies about the farm at the moment!! They use May flower (cuckoo flower) & Jack-by-the-hedge (garlic mustard) to lay the eggs on. Females - white upper Males - white with orange tips Grass growing nicely and swallows and proper good stuff like this 💚

@GardenerSier I've never understood how they are so successful - ours seem to loose interest in nest building very quickly and end up with a feeble looking platform often shortly followed by a smashed egg!

Whilst tidying today I found a tiny, pure white eggshell, probably laid by one half of our resident Collared Dove pair who are often to be found billing & cooing on top of my greenhouse.They like to start egg laying early, possibly one of the secrets of their success as a species

@Kate_Bradbury I sea kayak and often see them purposefully flying out to sea (I have been known to rescue ones that have landed in the sea and take them back to land)

First bumblebee of the year! Queen buff-tail flying over pebbles on Hove beach. I often see bumbles on the beach and don’t really understand why - lured by the colourful beach huts perhaps?

@PaulKissack Generated witty replies! About 100 years ago I used to order drinks for the youth club. My mum rang me at work one day to say she couldn't see out of the front room windows for crates of coca cola. They worked in crates. I worked in number of single bottles. No cat was involved.
