@ASFleischman "Moderate" Muslims, like moderate believers of other religions and like most Leninists, make no serious alterarations to the original texts or doctrine. They're just lazy and hippocritical and not committed. Actually moderate Islam is like Sufism IMO.

I’ll write later in detail but want to emphasize now something I learned on this “safari.” The most frightening thing isn’t chimping, yelling or theatrics. The men on this campaign are terrifying because they’re consummate professionals and btw also very decent and kind in person

I want to make clear that while I was taken into a war zone and heard bullets and …other things…I was not myself armed or body armor; was there only for a joyride as observer. It is amazing private effort that leaves you in awe at professionalism and its power

@TonerousHyus @plzbepatient We can absolutely “collect on” mortgages in the US. I expect we can also collect on almost all auto loans to immigrants in the US too.

@extradeadjcb Immigration policy could be so easy. Just require a good score on the SAT and Pacer test. These aren’t perfect criteria but they don’t need to be. With very modest standards to weed out the fat and stupid immigrants can be likeable, limited in quantity, and fiscally beneficial.

this "we need them here" framing is so disingenuous If it's a purely economic competition, why do we care if our competitors (or suppliers) are in SF or Shenzhen If it's nationalistic, there's no reason to believe that training them here changes their national allegiance at all

The issue we have to try and solve is how to avoid education and immigrant access to America turning into a zero sum framing. Right now there are ~130M 18 year olds in the world. I think we’d agree that it would be in our strategic best interest if we could get the top ~.5% of them to come here and contribute to our economy and long term dominance. If we don’t get them, they’re not going to be any less smart in their country, which means we’ve just increased our competition elsewhere by not bringing them here. No matter what, the number of insanely smart people globally will always be a higher number than the number we have in our country, so we should probably focus on finding ways to expand our education system to support both local and global talent, as opposed to arbitrary limits on the global front.
