P1-4 took their maths outside this week to make the most of the sunshine. We were forming numbers in P1 and placing numbers on a number line in P2-4 #maths#outdoormaths
In forest school this week, we made clay mushrooms inspired by all the different ones we found on the forest floor as well as balancing on rope bridges and den building
I line managed a Teaching Assistant who told me his target was to climb Snowden. When I told him it had to be school related, he paused and said, 'Climb Snowden with the kids.'
Last Wednesday was the first Forest School session of the new term and what fun was had. From making traps, to rolling logs and building towers, we showed problem solving, creativity, communication and teamwork skills all while playing.
Members of the Health Promotion Group had a quick trip over to Camphill Schools to see the final stages of our Buddy Bench which is being crafted by some of the students. Pupils got to try the bench for size and learn about the woodworking process. @CamphillACS@AberdeenshireLL
P4-7 have been receiving Play Leader training from Active Schools. They are developing skills in communication, planning and inclusion whilst having fun playing lots of new games. @ASAberdeenshire
And so, my last tasks as HT are to wish last year’s P7s all the best as they transition to their new Academies on Tuesday; to welcome our P1 families and Wendy Craig (Acting HT)…I hope you will love your time at BD and will soon feel settled and happy. (Continue in thread).
Yesterday we surprised Mrs Downie with a presentation from the children to celebrate her retirement from teaching. Part of the fun included a video made of the funniest memories and giving her, her first ever medals! We will miss you so much Mrs D!
