@sneedwick @blacknredtext That film ends with the lead character getting raped by his ex whilst handcuffed, and him trying to convince his current girlfriend that he didn't cheat. No consequences for the rapist.

@Wahyutrihadi14 @exRAF_Al @grok The joke is that the person did not want to meet the Arsenal players or watch the game, so he deliberately got it wrong.

I phoned Heart FM today, to enter their mystery prize competition. Amanda Holden answered, and said, "Congratulations on being our first caller, all you need to do is answer the following question correctly, to win our Mystery Grand Star Prize". "That Fantastic!" I called out in delight. "Feel Confident?" Amanda asked, “.. it's a Geography Question." "Well, I've got a degree in Geography from Oxford University," I proudly replied, "And I've taught Geography to A level students for the last 20 years, so, yeah.. I’m feeling pretty confident”. "Ok then, to win our grand prize of 2 VIP tickets to an Arsenal game, and to meet the Arsenal players after the game, what is the capital of France?" "Eastbourne", I replied.

@RepealTCPA1947 @yuanyi_z Peers of the United Kingdom (like the former Prince Andrew - his peerages have been suspended but not revoked) historically had the right to be tried by their equals in the House of Lords. This was abolished by Clement Attlee, at the request of the Lords, in 1948.

@MufcDw Mind you, at least from what I saw, as soon as Marsha suggested "Helen", Bradley went "Need an answer!" It didn't seem as if Ian had an opportunity to suggest with Marsha that they go with "Bathsheba" instead.

@MufcDw It was harsh and I really do pity the contestants, but it was almost certainly the decision of the judges, not Bradley, to disallow the Bathsheba answer. Most likely, Bradley hemmed and hawed for a few seconds, then got told to disallow it, and it got removed in the final edit.

You know what? Wrexham deserve credit for making everyone think them - bankrolled by millions from a foreign country - beating Nottingham Forest proves the "fairytale" nature of the FA Cup.

Funny that Kristi Noem's attempt to attract sympathy for the ICE agent, ended up having his identity splashed out everywhere.

@k_mahlburg @theprojecttv Their official excuse was that Bluesky has a low Australian user base, so they were "low risk". Mind you, 4chan remains permitted, as it does not require an account to participate. A law can have good intentions, but also be very poorly thought-out.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge lit up with the message “Let them be kids” as Australia’s nationwide ban on social media for under‑16s officially came into effect.

@remstack 4chan couldn't be included in the ban, because it does not require an account to participate. Bluesky was deemed "low risk" by the government as it only had around 50,000 Australian users, but they have said they'll implement a ban on u-16s anyways.

i don't understand australia's under 16 social media ban. there's such inconsistency to it. nearly all the major platforms are banned. but some like 4chan and bluesky aren't? makes no sense.

@leahray @lisareality1 I believe you're just pretending to act so stupid so people can call out your stupidity, ergo, giving you attention and engagement. But maybe I've underestimated the depth of your stupidity. (And yes, I know I'm giving you engagement as well...)

Just came out of Lidl and saw a woman crying her eyes out. She was explaining to people that she’d lost all of her Xmas spending money and didn’t know how she would be able to afford everything! I felt really sorry for her and gave her £50. I don’t normally do this sort of thing but I had just found £2000 in the car park! It doesn’t hurt to be kind at this time of year!

@FCBJimbo @boabeto75 @TheAthleticFC According to this article, FIFA never publicly revealed the Supporters' Shield winners would qualify until they announced Inter Miami had qualified. And the decision was made one day after Inter Miami had won it. archive.ph/3br0e

@BanditLockdown @boabeto75 @TheAthleticFC There was a set period within which all teams participating in the CWC had to be decided, they wouldn’t have been able to wait for the MLS cup playoffs. They opted to use the Supporters Shield instead since it’s the closest thing MLS has to a league format trophy.

Cristiano Ronaldo has avoided a suspension for the start of next summer’s World Cup after FIFA handed the Portugal captain a three-match ban, with the final two games suspended for “a one-year probation period”. Ronaldo was sent off in Portugal’s penultimate World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland for swinging an elbow at Dara O’Shea in an off-the-ball incident. The red card meant Ronaldo would automatically serve a one-game ban, ruling him out of Portugal’s final World Cup qualifier against Armenia, but the suspension was extended by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, who deemed the offence worthy of a longer three-game ban. However, the committee ruled that the final two matches of Ronaldo’s extended ban would be suspended “under a one-year probation period”, meaning he will avoid missing any further fixtures provided he does not commit “another infringement of a similar nature”. 🔗 nytimes.com/athletic/68095…

@SPFL_Fitba_Fan I remember when two English clubs made it to the UCL final in 2021. They planned to hold it in London, but the UK refused to let VIPs in without a COVID test. So it got held in Portugal instead. VIPs over the average Joe, every time.

Fukin hell. How is the average fan supposed to be able to afford this. Say we were to make the final, the prices in tickets along would be (minimum £2700) then add in Flights, accommodation, food, spending money. How is this football for the average fan 😳🤷🏻‍♂️ #WorldCup2026
Kev.I.N 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿@KDAG91

Now that the madness of last week has settled I think it’s important to highlight how obscene the ticket prices are for the World Cup next year. Not missed a home game since 2008. Barely missed an away game since Covid but likely to be priced out of The World Cup

@InstagramQueen2 @FIFAWWC I’d also imagine that being barred from playing abroad doesn’t exactly help the adult team either.

@InstagramQueen2 @FIFAWWC I’ve seen someone saying that the North Korean U-17s are basically full-time training, while other teams have players with other priorities like education. At adult, the other countries’ players can dedicate themselves full-time and overtake the North Koreans.

@Matt_AKA_Keefy @lewispringle The red-and-white tiles were found to have the potential to trigger epileptic fits. They tried to re-record all the episodes, but some of the original contestants were no longer available, hence why some episodes still aired with the red-and-white tiles.

Been itching to go to the BFI Mediatheque for years, and I was thrilled to discover they had the Countdown episodes from 1989 featuring the infamous white and red tiles.
