sometimes i feel like i watched a different Obsession from everyone else because the “rules” of the magic are clear that there really isnt anything bear can do to help nikki (other than die.) Obsession’s themes would have been more impactful if he’d had an easier way to save her

#Obsession works because the real horror isn't the wish it's Bear. He had someone who genuinely cared about him, but instead of risking rejection, he chose control. That's what makes the film so disturbing. It's a story about insecurity, entitlement, and what happens when someone values being loved more than another person's freedom. Do you think Bear was always this selfish, or did the wish bring out the worst in him?

I think Obsession is a lot more nuanced than most people projecting onto it realize, and reading heated debates over it is so dumb. It's a very tragic story for all the characters.

"Evil Pet Sounds" would be my ideal rock record, I fantasize about it often. Like take the lush orchestration of Pet Sounds but with atonal harmony and a flat affect, something like Spiderland with an orchestra or a Pop Schoenberg. Scott Walker came close to achieving this.

@discordspies Bear isn't really an "incel". He's just a shy, harmless guy who developed a crush on the first girl that was nice to him and put her on a pedestal. If that willow hadn't worked, he would've had his heart broken, maybe got depressed for a few months but eventually moved...

パブロックをここまで好きになれたのはミッシェルガンエレファントの全盛期に青春時代を過ごせたからなのが大きいかな🤔
