Yesterday, I went for an interview at a big Fintech company. The interview was very intense, so I excused myself to use the convenience. I raised my gown to pee, then looked up… only to see a CCTV camera at the top right corner of the toilet. I immediately froze. I couldn’t continue knowing I was possibly being monitored, so I ran outside and went straight to HR. I told them, There’s a CCTV camera in the toilet. Does this mean someone is literally watching people’s bumbum? In their defence, they said they’re a financial institution and the cameras are there because they don’t want staff stealing money. I immediately told them I couldn’t work in such an environment. Yes, the salary was in 7 figures, but I’m not comfortable knowing there’s a camera in a place people are supposed to have privacy. Is it even okay to put CCTV cameras in toilets? Or am I overreacting??
