@RutgersAltRoute I know they would feel apprehensive about coming to school/class. Making sure conversations about them being in a safe and loving environment are continuous. Being contentious about small groups created. Involve them in projects , praise them to help with self esteem.#safeschools
English

Students can bully others, they can be bullied, or they may witness bullying. For our final question, think about the social and emotional needs of those involved in bullying #TeacherEd #SafeSchools

English

@RutgersAltRoute The opportunities that come up are based on discussions and modeling of what positive, kind behavior and actions should sound like or look like. The challenges are where the conflict will keep causing disruptions while instruction is ongoing. #Teachered #safeschools
English

Reflect on your knowledge and understanding of harassment, intimidation, and bullying (HIB) from course readings and your experience to respond to Question 4 #TeacherEd #SafeSchools

English

@RutgersAltRoute Communication is ongoing with families and resources are shared from our SEL curriculum. During GLM we collaborate about techniques used to help foster a more positive and kind approach in our classroom. Culture team also steps in to have mediations with students/and families.
English

During last Saturday's #EdTech chat, it was noted that technology can foster collaboration. For Question 3, share your practices (high-tech and low-tech) for collaborating with families and colleagues to create a safe learning environment for all students #TeacherEd #SafeSchools

English

@RutgersAltRoute Start off the day with morning meetings , a chance to make connections right In the beginning of the day.Definitely keep them grouped into small groups. Communication is ongoing with families. Constant movement around class.Modeling kindness and similar Environment #safeschools
English

For Question 2, reflect on the materials you’ve read and your professional experience. Consider sharing factors that may be specific to your content area and grade level #TeacherEd #SafeSchools

English

@RutgersAltRoute From the beginning of the school I have had a daily conversation about being kind to one another. The reasons behind that and how we’re a school family and should be respectful, and kind. We also teach SEL. Big focus on kindness.##safeschools #teachered
English

To start us off, here's Question 1! When considering your "practices", you can think about your classroom management, curriculum, instructional practices, the academic/social/emotional skills you teach, and the physical/virtual space of your classroom #TeacherEd #SafeSchools

English

@RutgersAltRoute @Corey_Cohen10 @IndraLynOwens @Martinez_EdTech Good morning #safeschools #Teachered

@RutgersAltRoute I use Remind Im able to send out notifications, reminders but most importantly updating them on the different exciting activities we have going on. I also send out links /access information for educational programs students can use outside of school. #edtech #teachered
English

For our 5th and final question, we want to hear your ideas for engaging students' families. Consider what you already do or what you want to try next year to connect learning and form partnerships with families that can impact student success. #TeacherEd #EdTech

English

@RutgersAltRoute Technology allows us to have more access, exposure , collaboration, innovation with information to best educate our students. The challenges would be figuring out what works best for you and your students. How to incorporate it into your lessons. #edtech #teachered
English

Technology has become an integral part of teachers' professional practice. For Question 4, let’s explore the benefits and unique challenges that educators must navigate. Consider any that may be specific to your content area and grade. #TeacherEd #EdTech

English

@RutgersAltRoute My grade level lead is more comfortable and experienced with the use of technology in her classroom. Always shares any project she is working on or slides /use of technology. We have great collaborative opportunities during our grade level meetings. #Teachered #Edtech
English

For Q3, consider the role of technology in your collaboration practices with colleagues, both within your school & through professional organizations. Collaboration is an opportunity for teachers to seek advice, wisdom, & assistance from their fellow educators. #TeacherEd #EdTech

English

@RutgersAltRoute @EDtheScienceGuy @MsAshleyShanley @mskb26 @techcoachjuarez In my school we have to write a work ticket . But I’ve become familiar with the IT staff and have their personal cell #’s on hand for quicker communication. Ask for one or two extra chrome-books/iPads as well. Just in case issues come up you have backups.#teachered
English

Our panelists know schools have different levels of on-site technical support available. Please share any tips or suggestions for how teachers, especially ones newer to a school, could reasonably ask for help.
@EDtheScienceGuy @MsAshleyShanley @mskb26 @techcoachjuarez
English

@RutgersAltRoute The loss of connection or loading issues. I have to make sure to have a backup plan just in case. Another issue for my students..would be limiting access to inappropriate sites and difficulty logging in . #teachered
English

Ts and Ss may be used to seeing laptops and tablets in schools but research indicates that adequate preparation and training are key factors in the adoption & effectiveness of educational technology. For Question 2, we want to hear your experiences. #TeacherEd #EdTech

English

@RutgersAltRoute Definitely which we had more pd’s where technology was the topic and we could get more hands on experience. Some barriers or issues would be not having adequate time to familiarize myself with all of the components featured in the apps. #teachered
English

@RutgersAltRoute I’ve become
More comfortable using technology in my classroom. When using the interactive content from our curriculum students are not only more engaged but helps me keep track of the lesson. #edtech #teachered
English

For Q1, consider your current use of technology in your classroom. Be specific to your content area & grade level.
Remember to use "A1 #TeacherEd #EdTech" in your responses so others will see your tweets as part of the chat.

English

@RutgersAltRoute For my first graders I use technology when we are working as a whole group. I like using the interactive content availability in the curriculum based apps. Keeps them more engaged as opposed to me just using a textbook to teach from.

@RutgersAltRoute We use a lot of pre-assessment opportunities and exit tickets. I would love to work on more diverse hands on assessments my students. Using their interests and incorporating them in these assessments.
English

This morning's 5th and final Q is on assessment #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset
“You can enhance or destroy students’ desire to succeed in school more quickly and permanently through your use of assessment than with any other tool you have at your disposal.” – Dr. Rick Stiggins

English

@RutgersAltRoute Any feedback should be specific. Concentrating on their strengths and what they did well. Then guiding to work on other areas that might need a little work. But focusing on how they grew academically . I’ve seen a confidence in my students when we have these discussions.
English

Feedback is a compass for improvement and not all feedback is created equally. For Q4 share your content area and consider your best practices and those you would like to try #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset

English

@RutgersAltRoute Focusing on language used in the classroom along as using their interests and passions in our lessons to help bring out more engagement and motivation in my students. Continuing to look how I can deliver my lessons , questions, time for them to think and answer.
English

Framing, or how teachers introduce new concepts and tasks to students, is the focus of Q3. Framing can steer students to a fixed or growth mindset. It helps students feel free to be a work in progress as they learn. #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset
