Seventeen-year-old Vesco took delivery of the T100R on August 15, 1956, from Guy Urquhart Triumph Ariel Indian Motorcycles in San Diego, California. Vesco’s father, John, himself a Bonneville pioneer, signed the bill of sale for $783.96. 📸Joe Avila 2/3

This is the 1955 Triumph T100R that set the legendary Don Vesco on a 46-year path to two- and four-wheel racing stardom, including establishing an FIA wheel-driven land-speed record of 458.444 mph, a mark that still stands today. 📸Joe Avila 1/3

WASCO modified the frame, re-angling the steering head to speed up steering and shorten the wheelbase. A Gold Wing fork wears cast-iron front brake discs mounted on Kosman carriers. The 18-inch wheels are magnesium, a Dymag front and an EPM rear.
