It is the 1 year anniversary of the BOOT & SHOE re-opening the doors, today. Matt and his team are putting on a little celebration this evening from 5:30pm, including a a PIZZA VAN

The monument on Towton battlefield (the Towton Cross) was erected in 1927/8 by archaeologist James Ogden of Harrogate, using the cross patée from a nearby memorial at Barkston Ash - a likely survival of the lost Towton Chapel. Merry Xmas & a Happy New Year to all my followers!

There was a wonderful soup lunch in the village hall today - it was lovely to see a big turn out in support of church funds. £5 for delicious (and it was!) homemade soups, bread, tea & coffee and homemade cakes. Very spoilt. Thank you to all who made them.

💔She’s gone. We took this photo together just 2 hours ago. The hardest decision ever. We did not want that cancer to win, so instead of having her hang on for weeks & have it take her when it burst open, we gave her the best day ever & said goodbye while she could still somewhat enjoy it. I’m absolutely devastated and this is another huge loss. She joins her best friend forever Jake, at the rainbow bridge. We were told to choose a date (before the tumor ruptured) which at the latest would be weeks. We decided last night to say goodbye today, on her 14th birthday. What an honor to spend it with her. We spent the morning making a paw print for her memory, we went for a last walk (she tired after only a minute), we hung out with Jackson, had some birthday ice cream, she had a big chew bone & treats, and I cooked her fresh chicken and vegetables. I fed it to her out of my hand, so that I could be close to her on her final breakfast. When we got to the vet, we brought a McDonalds breakfast sandwich; which she had always wanted, and I also fed that to her. Our final words were how happy she made us, how blessed we were, how much we loved her & that she would meet her Jake at the bridge. We told her how good of a girl she was and that we would see her in heaven. Absolutely lost without her. Life will not be the same. She was like a daughter to me. I lost my only daughter to cancer (she was 30) and Abbey was like a daughter in a way. I work from home & we were together 24/7. There will never be another princess. Jack potato van in Tad - on Thursday Important update I will be round the back of Tadcaster Barn tomorrow -12th Feb-. The grass at the front is no longer safe for getting the van on due to all of the rain and it's no longer suitable for customers to walk on #tadcaster

POTHOLE REPAIRS The road from hook moor to Lotherton is closed - FINALLY taking the pothole run seriously after all the claims. Only fit for tractors currently. Traffic is being diverted via Aberford. You can currently (1:30pm) access the road down to Sherburn / Saxton

Thank you to Leeds fans and pals who offered support over the last week, suicide is something I never expected, we have always been an old school Yorkshire family brought up in Church Fenton/Barkston Ash, if you ever had problems you just got on with it, tomorrow will be a better day etc, mental health is so important, he left a letter explaining why and I am trying to take comfort from it, these things take time, never forget but learn to live with, he was always Big David and I was Little, even when I became taller than him the name never changed and it a running joke between us, will miss him dearly #lufc

Difficult day all round, found out that my Uncle (same name as me) committed suicide this morning on the railway line at Church Fenton, cannot get my head round it, couldn’t focus on match at all and had to leave and go home, in terms of the game a difficult day but we remain 6 points clear with 14 games to go #lufc
