The LIDAR Survey of the remains of the prehistoric cairn of Clourane. The remains of this cairn are situated on the ridge of Forth Mountain, which once overlooked the ancient Kingdoms of Forth and Shelmaliere.  This survey was funded by The Heritage Council.

The completion of surface preparation for our planned LIDAR Survey of the cairns remains. The remains of this cairn are situated on the ridge of Forth Mountain, which once overlooked the ancient Kingdoms of Forth and Shelmaliere.  This survey is funded by The Heritage Council.

The Conservation of Furlong's Homestead Day 28 Today, in the sunshine volunteers Pauline and Carmel went whitewashing the building's walls and what a great job they did. The next job is to bring the rear wall up to wallplate level & sealed before the winter. #conservation

SAFEGUARDING THE CASTLE Over the past two days Codd Architectural Stone Masons prepared the base of the tower house walls, to make ready for the stone repair works. Today saw the start of the large gaps in the walls around the base of the tower been filled and repointed.

The Conservation of Furlong's Homestead - Day 26 Today stonemason Pat Hickey and the volunteers were back at the homestead. In between the showers works continued with preparing the stone clay mortar joints, followed by the extensive work filling the joints with lime mortar.

The Giant Woodwasp Recently while around Furlong's Homestead in Forth Mountain, we came across this guy, a Giant woodwasp or sometimes called a horntail, for obvious reasons. While they can look intimating and are noisy fliers, they are totally harmless. Photo credit wlgf
