@CoachRAdrian @georgejroy I think it’s never too early to talk to kids about digital citizenship and how to use technology safely. It’s important for kids to understand how to appropriately use it. I think that conversation starts the foundation for social media as they get older.

@BarrackLindsay @georgejroy I too agree that students that young may not be ready for full out social media, but technology is a full out part of their lives even at that age. So when do you believe would be a good age to start teaching about their digital footprint?

@georgejroy #EDTE731SPRING2020 I think bringing certain social media into the classroom could be a useful platform to engage older students if used correctly. However, I teach third grade and I do not think any social media would be appropriate given their age.

@TalfordAnderson @georgejroy Technology has really come into play with everyone being home. I’ve done many google meets with my class and it’s been great. I think moving forward I want to utilize these technologies in my classroom more, even being back at school!

@BarrackLindsay @georgejroy Now that we’re home schooling I see it beneficial in the area of peer engagement & interaction with the teacher at all levels, with parental control & guidance of course. Last week my kindergartener did a google hangout with his teacher and he was so excited!

@ConstanceVPearl @georgejroy I agree that using platforms like Google Classroom is a great way to introduce them and expose them to interacting online. I use Google Classroom a lot and my kids love “talking” to each other through comments. This is a stepping stone for sure!

@BarrackLindsay @georgejroy You make an excellent point, but maybe you could baby step them and have them conduct conversation using Google Classroom. You can enable comments and monitor it very closely. The format is similar to Blackboard, but you could still teach digital citizenship.
