Big day for endorsements, as the building trades, LiUNA, IBEW and the painters’ union backed @Janeese4DC, pointing to her work negotiating for additional labor protections in the RFK deal.

@AlexKomaDC @kenyanmcduffie And the ED of the Federal City Council is Anthony Williams-one of the most successful mayors in DC's history. He is the only person to ever be drafted by citizens to run for mayor.

New: Opportunity DC, the business backed group aligned with the Federal City Council, is endorsing @kenyanmcduffie for mayor. Probably no surprise here (they backed him in 2022) but notable as they can spend heavily to support his bid. Here's what ED Malcom Fox says about why:

You have always try to downplay McDuffie’s shortcomings in the past, and this is no different.

Outside RFK, @Janeese4DC is unveiling her economic development and job creation platform. It includes a Downtown Development Corporation, “innovation districts” anchored by universities, union labor agreements for big projects, and more.

All residents and visitors in DC deserve a 911 call center that is fast, accurate, and efficient. My bill to improve and protect accuracy for our 911 call responses is needed to ensure there is no confusion or delay for clinical decisions and that OUC has best national practices training regardless of agency leadership. This bill builds on the oversight and legislation I have conducted and passed over the last several years to strengthen, support, and improve our 911 call center.

@ScottGoldstein You have my sincere condolences on the loss of your Dad. The photo tells the story of the good times. I hope they bring you comfort. My mama died nearly 7 years ago; some mornings I wake wishing I could speak with her, hear her voice.

This platform can be incredibly impersonal. It can drive us apart instead of allowing us to recognize our common humanity. I share in hopes others can relate. Today marks one year since my dad passed. I still take out my phone and try to text him sometimes. Everything is a reminder. I regret my kids didn’t get longer with him. As I pursue my own career I’m always grateful for the confidence and boldness he gave me in pursuits small and large. Hopefully as the year turns I can start to think about him and smile instead of just regret he’s no longer here. If you’re going through something similar, I hope you can too.

In DC, the people who do everything right somehow end up cast as the problem. A veteran. A small landlord. A diehard Redskins fan. Someone who served her country, followed the rules, and put her life savings on the line to build something. And yet the system treats her like she’s the villain, instead of the very kind of person a city should be built around.

Free DC’s campaign director, Alex Dodds, is Janeese’s former campaign manager so not exactly surprising.

@SmithSteiner Based on my own knowledge, I know this endorsement of Kenyan McDuffie from Sen. Angela Alsobrooks is not some favor to Mayor Bowser.

Bowser is calling in favors! Don’t believe the hype! We all seen McDuffie unhinged, and disrespectful behavior at Matthew Memorial Church this past Saturday. We all seen how McDuffie did not attend the Ward5 Dems forum of undecided voters. But went to another forum to speak that he was not invited. When McDuffie’s supporters approached him about his lack of visibility, he said he had 3 months before election. They had to lit a fire to get him to be more visible. This is all recent!

@BarrasReport @JHWeissmann @CMRobertWhiteDC @DC_Edvocate Yeah but SBOE elections are always in the general. Your data Proves my point more. Jordan said SBOE elections are low turnout. It was actually higher turnout in this case than the primary.

As the parent of a D.C. public school student, I absolutely do not want our board of education, whose obscure members are chosen in extremely low-turnout races, to have more power.
