German game studios were generally known for making great sims (usually business or strategy related).
Mad TV is a true five star classic and turns 35 this year. Created and published by Rainbow Arts (Germany), it’s by far my favourite game from them.
You run a TV station, meaning you decide which movies and shows to schedule, which advertising deals to accept, how much to invest in the hourly news (better news ratings boost viewership for the following programmes), and try to strike the right balance between growing the station, maintaining high ratings and keeping costs under control.
The concept is incredibly fun and fairly easy to grasp. The thrill of finally affording the rights to your first Wimbledon live broadcast or a blockbuster movie (and seeing the killer ratings) never gets old.
Later on in the game you can buy entire new satellites to expand your reach and even produce your own shows. A lot of love and attention to detail went into this game. I still play it to this day.

@dhh cool thing about cachy is that scx_loader is preinstalled, plus little gui for switching sched_ext. can do wonders for responsiveness. scx_bpfland was the first thing i installed on omarchy.

Turns out Cachy didn't do anything conclusively for 1% lows in gaming either (only Doom better / Returnal worse). And it's worse in frame pacing. So most Linux gamers clearly don't need a custom kernel. Linus already did very good optimizing the stock one! youtube.com/watch?v=qdvdZU…

My new book just hit #1 in "Humor in German" on Amazon. To everyone who said Germans have no sense of humor ... we do. It's just a special kind of horror. #indiepub #learngerman

@tabrezsyed yup. and that was exactly my reasoning as well: "didn’t want to add Obsidian Sync or GitHub as another vendor with access to my notes." - and git diffs are just a boon when doing chaotic edits across multiple devices haha
English

@BarrenCode Did similar, skipped the Pi. `git init` inside the vault, no remote, iCloud handles sync/backup, daily auto-commit cron for the history. The PWA is nicer for browsing diffs though. Walkthrough: mandalivia.com/obsidian/track…

I don't use Obsidian Sync. I don't use GitHub for this either. I don't pay for any of it.
Just a Pi, a bare git repo, and a React PWA I built myself.
