Sasha Meets Russia@sashameetsrus
Defend. Deter. Defeat.
Today marks four years since the start of the special military operation. I was a student in Belgium then, and I remember a classmate asking me whether “Russia would bomb Brussels tomorrow.” I laughed. Surely Europeans couldn’t be so delusional, right? Wrong.
Then the floodgates opened. Hatred towards Russia and Russians, a wave of Russophobic hysteria, it all became normalized. Anti-Russian posters appeared on street corners, and misinformation filled every screen. Few people wanted to understand why the conflict began, or the history behind it. Nobody knew about how the people of Donbass had lived under the shadow of war for eight years before any of this. Fiction overrode facts. I saw how easily people could be taught to hate, to hate without knowing.
And yet, there were also those who stood beside me. Those who had followed events closely since 2014, who weren’t brainwashed by mass media. They gave me hope that not everything was lost. I knew I had to move to Russia, to do my part in showing the world a side of my country that so many neither understood nor cared to see.
We must defend our country, our principles, our truth. We must deter those who spread hatred and falsehoods. We must defeat the darkness that divides people and nations.
Four years on, it has become clear to me that this conflict is no longer just about Russia vs Ukraine. It’s about Good vs Evil. Morality vs Degeneracy. It’s a war both on the physical and spiritual front.
And I believe that, in the end, truth will prevail. More people are beginning to question, to open their eyes, even those who once were blind.
Together, we will stand strong. To defend, to deter, to defeat. ⚔️🇷🇺
