Law 101: The best law school is the one which will make you a lawyer. What schools teach aren’t lessons and lessons alone—it’s the work ethic that you will eventually find useful in the profession. It hones you to be keen about everything. Never take it for granted. Study well.

With which, we should all be mindful of what we say, what we do, and how we act as current and future members of the profession. May we always act accordingly. May we carry with us the wisdom of what the law says, and where the facts point us.

The discourse surrounding the current political landscape has been a circus of sorts. Perhaps, ‘circus’ is too mild of a word. The nation is divided as to what stand is correct and as to whose opinion is better.

Law 101 Knowledge about legal provisions and case laws is important. But how you deliver your point across and back them up with applicable legal bases helps even more. Hence, the more you know, the better. But remember to answer only what’s being asked. Be concise. Be direct.

Law 101: Do not treat non-core subjects in law school as ‘minor’. Remember that the curriculum is made for a reason. You are not studying law just to pass the Bar. You are in law school to prepare for the practice of the legal profession. Study hard—no exceptions. Do good.

Law 101: Digests are assigned not just for compliance. You are meant to read, understand, and eventually summarize the assigned cases. The purpose of this is to ensure your capacity of understanding material facts, issues, and decisions related to assigned topics. No shortcuts.

Law 101: You will never be fully prepared in law school. Acceptance is key. But what you can do is show up no matter what. Recitations and exams are part luck and part preparation. But if you are confident that you have covered main topics, you will do good. Show up all the time
