I will continue collaborating with various Ministries and UN Agencies to support homegrown School Feeding Programme.

Providing a hot meal for children in schools eliminates immediate hunger and keeps children well-nourished. My office is committed to supporting the school feeding programme to enhance greater investment in the children of The Gambia.

Today is Africa Day of School Feeding and I was delighted to serve food and refreshments to school children as part of activities marking the day. School feeding is essential and a step towards achieving Zero hunger.

Madam Bio after the tour expressed admiration for the cleanliness of the paediatrics wards while commending her counterpart, Fatoumatta Bah Barrow, for taking the lead role in the welfare of children and women in The Gambia.

The First ladies took a conducted tour of the department and presented gifts, courtesy of the Sierra Leonian First lady.

I express appreciation to the African Union Commission and colleague First Ladies from across Africa at the High Level Working Session on Banning Plastics in Africa, for this laudable initiative and the honor bestowed on me as Champion for West Africa.

The Government of The Gambia is conscious of the health and environmental hazards associated with the growing demand for plastics, and remains committed to maintain the ban on plastic bags.

As the Chair for West Africa, I am committed to the gradual eradication of plastics through advocacy and awareness raising on the impacts of plastics and share experience on strategies and measures being undertaken to address the menace of plastics.

I am profoundly honored to announce that I have been selected as the Regional Chair for West Africa by the African Union Commission to lead efforts in ensuring a pollution-free Africa. In this new role, I am tasked to spearhead the campaign to ban and eradicate plastics.
