@DLynchSport And I bet when you made those mistakes Derrick you appreciated people having your back and supporting you. Not the people sniping and belittling you. I guarantee he feels he has let the officiating team down. Simple human decency goes a long way. It didn't affect the result.

@BarryDunne6505 Made plenty of them Barry and always took the fallout on the chin. Officiating at a crucial top level game like that, and doing what he did, is simply not good enough.

Anyone with a brain will know an umpire would not have a phone out. He was clearly noting in a notepad the number of the player that got booked, good practice. The TV coverage nearly missed the penalty also, it was taken so quick after the booking. Cut him some slack.

@DLynchSport Must be exhausting never making a mistake in your life Derrick. If it was a Clare ref or umpire made a simple mistake there wouldn't be a peep out of you. A proper journalist wouldn't resort to this type of low blow in fairness. Give the man a break.

@BarryDunne6505 "The man is a volunteer" excuse doesn't wash anymore. They are there to do a job, being a volunteer doesn't excuse stuff like that.

@DLynchSport Penalty was taken way faster than usual, if you watch the full coverage you'd see that, it even caught the commentators on the hop. Guarantee the same umpire and the ref will be sick seeing this getting picked up and criticised, usually a very good team. The man is a volunteer.
