In 2013-2016, if you wanted to make a memecoin, you made a copy of bitcoin or litecoin and gave it a new funny name. And probably posted on bitcointalk. Lots of coins did this: Dogecoin (obviously), BBQcoin, BunnyCoin, MoonCoin, Pandacoin, CageCoin, PutinCoin, and dozens more. The problems were numerous: you need inflation to have any security, the coins need to have value to have any security, the blockchains need to have nodes to continue, and the coins have no interoperability with other blockchains. An Ethereum smart contract memecoin fixes all this. AyeAyeCoin was the first ethereum smart contract memecoin. No inflation. Zero users or value for 8.5 years with no security risk or risk the coin completely dies forever. Native access any Ethereum dapp in the future that facilitates memecoins. Pretty pretty neat.

AyeAyeCoin was deployed in block 114,402. There were no other transactions that block, and no other transactions for the next 6 blocks. For reference, Ethereum blocks today typically contain hundreds of transactions. People were barely sending $ETH around and linagee was dropping a fixed supply lemur themed coin with a talking faucet.

@LebronProfits Someone made a lemur themed coin contract on Ethereum 3 weeks after mainnet. It's wrapped and traded as $WAAC. There arent any other named/themed coins before it or within a month or two of it. That's a good OG coin.
