@DanKolko_ He was incredibly fun to watch. Great baseball mind, learning the story of him teaching Billy Wagner his slider was a treat! - @KevinFrandsen is right by the way, Brad’s a religious archeologist!

@BaseUnstitched Love that. Great stuff. You hear hitters talk about how tough the no-dot slider can be. Lidge sure had a good one!

@DanKolko_ was listening to the Clayton Beeter comp on the broadcast. We had Brad Lidge on our podcast. He discussed with us what made his slider so good: The dot hitters normally see, was facing him, not the hitter. So hitters did not have there normal visual spin que!

That might be as close to the middle of the zone as I’ve seen on an ABS challenge

The “excuse me” homer of all home runs. Brandon Lowe’s 13th of the year As crazy it sounds, this was a HR in 21/30 ballparks. That said, it had an .091 xBA Make it make sense 🙃

@lockin_in_mlb Espino is the definition of a “Glass Cannon” - electric stuff, couldn’t stay healthy enough to be a starter. He has high-end, high-octane, high leverage stuff. Pending health, he’s a long-term back-end guy for Cleveland

@BaseUnstitched I’ve been able to watch some clips of Daniel Espino, and he looks pretty good… what are your thoughts on who was the best arm in the Guardians' farm?

@jowole1216 @starsstrikesbb Yup…you nailed it 👍🏼 Until he shows he can hit the inner half FB consistently it’s going to be hard to see it translating upwards at the moment But the raw talent and power is phenomenal

@BaseUnstitched can explain this better than I, but in essence he IS “getting it,” and he’s not missing these pitches at all. The reason they go to right-center isn’t because it’s a mishit, but rather because of how his swing is inherently built. He strides very late and so, to get to inside pitches, he has to physically open his front hip to get inside the ball, that makes it impossible for him to go to left-center and forces him to go to right-center. For most hitters those would be detrimental mechanics, but he’s so incredibly strong that he can get away with it.

If you want to know why Morales is still at AAA, this clip actually kind of shows it. He takes a hanging changeup from Danny Coulombe out to deep right center field. Impressive raw pop. But he also doesn't really *get* the ball. A pitch like that, if you really get it, probably goes to left/left center. But as it comes off Morales' bat, it almost looks like he's fouling it off, then it just casually goes a mile. The contact quality is a real work in progress still, and being able to post loud EVs alone won't be nearly as effective in the big leagues as it has been at AAA. Doesn't mean he can't improve it - I imagine the Nationals are working hard on that with Morales right now. But it's a real thing that would give him trouble in the big leagues, so even though the numbers are ridiculous, there's still work to do to help him be what he can be.

I listen to a lot of baseball podcasts & Chase Burns isn’t even mentioned in the same sentence as Paul Skenes & Jacob Misiorowski in the NL Cy Young conversation I won’t stay silent & neither should Reds fans What Chase Burns is doing right now is special. The numbers stack up with anybody in baseball & the league needs to start paying attention (Plus we need this for Hondo’s Jeremiah Smith Heisman + Burns Cy Young Parlay)

Given Tatis’ ability in the past to throw runners out, I understand the ‘expectation’ for plays like this to be completed as if it’s routine If you’ve never been a cutoff man to any base, here is how it works at high levels: 1.) Get in position and line yourself up with the base where the play is happening 2.) Have your internal clock for the base runner you’re trying to throw out 3a.) If offline, cut off ready to throw to base or if too slow cut off to get potential batter runner Or 3b.) If online, let it go to the plate. This was well played by the 1B
