@bosummers28 @BaseballJeff1 That leaves a bit over $750k [~$500k + $250k] for Wentz. BA ranked him about 100 in the draft, & the slot value for that would have been about $750k. So the math would pencil that way reasonably well.

@s_mjr71217 @mlbtraderumors Generally speaking, that’s exactly how you rebuild. That and trading your BEST pitchers too. Granted, trading guys who still have 3 and 4 years of control left is bleak. That’s more like a full tear down to the studs. At that point, you have to even consider trading Eldridge.

Actually, “probably” is doing a lot of work on this take from me. wRC+ is already park-adjusted, so Arraez’s 132/118 split is what’s left after Oracle park is stripped out. That could just be home field advantage + statistical noise. 14 points is ~1 SD in a half-season sample.

@AndThatsBB He is probably in the range of 3% better at Oracle than he would be at an average ballpark. Which is less percentage change than you would expect from a player year to year.

@AndThatsBB Arraez home split on the season is 132 wRC+ Away split is 118 wRC+ Avg home/away split is 5-8 points. So his “true” split is more like 122 vs 128. That’s meaningful, in that he really is a good fit for Giants stadium. But it’s not nearly as dramatic as you’re making it seem.

@ABartholomew_05 Seems like his ERA has been quite a bit lower than his xFIP all season. I wonder if that’s some improved command on the sinker and changeup leading to weak contact like Webb generates? I haven’t been following the scouting on him this year.

@ABartholomew_05 Yeah, I’m not opposed to strength for strength trades. If we were a playoff team needing a new starting pitcher but with Arraez and Chapman locked down the next few years in the infield… makes plenty of sense. But that’s not who we are.

Arraez doesnt grind he auto takes strike 1 then auto swings and makes shit contact on the next pitch The main reason Arraez's offense looks better this year is because he's playing in the best BABIP park in MLB and double dipping a massive park factor adjustment

At some point the Nerds in the Yankees front office need to realize you need grinders at the plate. You would’ve thought after the Jays went to the WS and beat them from it. Dodgers beating them in the WS with it. Dodgers now beating them this series because of it. YOU NEED HITTERS WHO CAN GRIND. Sometimes analytics isn’t everything. Go get Arraez please.

@susanslusser @KC And in that context, I think this is arguably the most ideal lineup, Against a lefty you might flip Bryce and Casey, and then flip Ramos and Devers. And then flip Lee and Adames. And then ideally have a righty outfield to platoon Gilbert who needs the platoon most of anyone.
