Patriots clinch the #3 seed in the 3A West II with a statement offensive performance. Blake Graham now leads the county with 5 💣, he has been outstanding start to finish for the Patriots. Wootton was the dark horse last year in the playoffs, can they do it again in 2026?

Wootton 12 RM 2 Jake Allen demonstrates why he’s among the top sophomores in the county. 3 for 4 with 5 RBI and a CG 7 K performance on the bump as well. A win on Monday and the Patriots secure the #3 seed.

Big day for Cyrus Kaz. The senior goes 3 for 4 with a HR. Hunter Sullivan keeps the Patriots in it on the bump vs. a previously hot Clarksburg team. Now only 1 game back of Rockville for the 3 seed in the 3A West II

Wootton 11 Churchill 1 The Patriots drill a previously hot Churchill team. Josh Reid’s bat comes alive with 5 RBIs. 4 of the top 5 hitters with multiple hits. Wootton has shown high enough highs that it wouldn't surprise if they are a dark horse again in this year's playoffs.

1. Kai Schmelzer (Wootton) Deserves his recognition even if not playing this upcoming spring. MoCo’s only PBRMD 1st team all state player from last year. A monster since his freshman year and was the catalyst behind the greatest MoCo upset in years vs. Damascus last spring

To set the stage, let’s first recognize the best seasons by class. Below are picks of the top two most notable offensive seasons in the 2020s by year. Some as of just last year! Hope we can get some iconic springs this year as well.

1. 2025 3A West II SF: Wootton beats Damascus 6-5 MoCo crowned two state champs, yet it was the Hornets that entered the playoffs as the county’s top team with six All State players. Wootton had other plans. 2nd pitch, Kai Schmelzer HR. Cyrus Kaz go ahead RBI T7. Rest is history
