@Based_Haruhi No no he's saying that comparatively as in, it didn't receive a golden globe and instead was broadcast at the Cannes film festival, nothing about the title of the film or that being the ONLY place it was shown

Friends! I'm on a mission! A friend and I are tracking down the film that inspired The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina. It was shown at Cannes film festival before 2003, black and white, has the word "Dake" (or variant of) in the title, and it did NOT win a Golden Globe!

@ringotainaka @days_luckystar2 Just to confirm, does the 'just' part of your sentence mean the title of the film has the word Just in it? Or do you mean it was only shown at the cannes film festival? The latter doesn't make as much sense though since it has a TV broadcast which indicates it's well distributed

My findings have come up with Kagemusha by Akira Kurosawa. Only issue is Dake means only where Kage means shadow. Everything else seems to fit. I wonder if Dake was used instead of Kage in the Haruhi light novel by mistake?
