The persistent disregard for traffic regulations by some motorists and motorcyclists in Abeokuta has become deeply alarming. Driving against traffic lights has become almost routine at major intersections such as Iyana-Mortuary, Pansheke, and several other locations across the city. What should be a basic rule of road safety is being treated as optional, exposing countless innocent road users to unnecessary danger every day. In the last two days alone, I witnessed incidents at Pansheke that could easily have resulted in tragic accidents because some road users chose to ignore the traffic lights. Every red light exists to prevent collisions and save lives. When drivers and riders deliberately violate these rules, they gamble not only with their own lives but also with the lives of passengers, pedestrians, and other motorists who are obeying the law. Equally disturbing is the apparent indifference of some law enforcement officers. Officials stationed at these intersections often do little to stop these dangerous violations. Even more troubling, I personally saw a police officer riding against the traffic light. When those entrusted with enforcing the law disregard it themselves, they weaken public confidence and encourage others to follow the same reckless path. A safe and orderly society cannot be built where human life is treated with such levity. Traffic laws are not mere suggestions; they are safeguards designed to protect us all. I respectfully call on the Ogun State Government, traffic management authorities, the police, and every road user to take this issue seriously. Strict enforcement, consistent public education, and personal responsibility are essential if we are to make Abeokuta's roads safer for everyone. @OgunPoliceNG @HafeezAkanni_ @Letter_to_Jack @DapoAbiodunCON @OGSG_Official @ogunradio_fm

Pages of the Glorius Qur'ān today, Friday 10/7/26, Sūrah Yūnus (10): 71-88, tafakkur verse 10: 78 Theme: The rejection of divine guidance through blind traditionalism, false accusations, and the desire to preserve worldly power is a pattern with every generation of idolaters {قَالُوۤا۟ أَجِئۡتَنَا لِتَلۡفِتَنَا عَمَّا وَجَدۡنَا عَلَیۡهِ ءَابَاۤءَنَا وَتَكُونَ لَكُمَا ٱلۡكِبۡرِیَاۤءُ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا نَحۡنُ لَكُمَا بِمُؤۡمِنِینَ} "They said, Have you come to us to turn us away from that upon which we found our fathers and so that you two may have grandeur in the land? And we are not believers in you". LESSONS: After Allah sent Mūsā and Hārūn with clear signs to Pharaoh and his people, they invited them to worship Allah alone and abandon idolatry and oppression. Rather than addressing the truth of their message, Pharaoh's elite resorted to familiar objections: They appealed to blind adherence to ancestral traditions, arguing that they could not abandon the religion of their forefathers. They accused Mūsā and Hārūn of having political ambitions, claiming they merely wanted power and authority over Egypt. They rejected the message without sincerely examining the evidence. This is a recurring pattern mentioned throughout the Qur'an: many nations opposed their prophets by saying, "We found our fathers following a certain way, and we are following in their footsteps." (See Qur'an 2:170; 31:21; 43:22–24.) Truth is not determined by tradition. Customs and inherited beliefs must be measured against divine revelation. False accusations are often used to discredit reformers. Instead of responding to evidence, opponents may question the motives of those calling to truth. Love of power can blind people. Pharaoh's leaders feared losing their influence more than they cared about the truth. Believers should evaluate evidence objectively. Islam encourages reason, reflection, and submission to clear proof rather than blind imitation (taqlīd al-aʿmā). The mission of the Prophets was guidance, not worldly domination. Mūsā and Hārūn sought to free people from tyranny and lead them to the worship of Allah alone. O Allah, show us the truth as truth and grant us the ability to follow it. Show us falsehood as falsehood and grant us the ability to avoid it. Āmīn.
