Deep in the Sun, a razor-thin layer called the tachocline should have grown thick over billions of years — but it hasn't. New supercomputer simulations show turbulent magnetic fields within the Sun act like a "brake" to stop the tachocline from expanding: go.nasa.gov/4aF8YwQ
