Thank you to all involved in our library reopening after refurbishment, inc: Monica Stringfellow and Sachin Mathur from Redditch Council, authors Sharon Hopwood and Matt Hunt, Ellie from Redditch library, Tesco and Waterstones for kind donations, parents and anyone I have missed.

A busy day today! Congratulations to our STEM workshop winners. A tired group of children returned from our residential trip and Year 3 have learned about the layers of the Earth and made models with salt dough to help them remember this new knowledge.

We promote healthy lifestyles at our school. Today, Year 3 have been preparing noodle salads, learning key food prep skills. Our garden kitchen club have also been planting produce ready to cook with. Daily our kitchen staff prepare meals on site, using fresh ingredients.

School has been busy over the break - fresh new toilets for the children, the mindfulness garden is blossoming and work on the restocked library has continued. The library grand reopening is happening next week - more details to follow!

Spring term flew by in a whirl, with history events, a rock concert and science day to name just a few great learning experiences. We can't wait for summer. Watch this space for news of more events and of wonderful learning that we have planned for the next couple of months.

Y3 got to use their knowledge of ancient Egyptian mummification to prepare and mummify Barbie! With hooks, canopic jars, salt and bandages the process was brought to life in a fun way, but luckily all Barbie's survived!

Science Week was a great success with some really memorable learning experiences around planting seeds, exploring materials and colour, as well as the human digestive system.

A lovely morning at the cinema as a treat for our attendance and behaviour superstars. Remember being in school every day is so important in building deep knowledge and learning. Thank you @birchensale and @vuecinema for your support with this.

What a lovely week - Thank you Redditch Central Mosque for bringing RE learning to life. We've also had WBD, football events and parents in school sharing books and biscuits. We can't wait for next week!

This is just a small part of the PE / playground equipment we received this week bought with the sponsorship money from our sports event during the summer term. Thank you for your kind donations and well done again to our children for their efforts.

Year two children are continuing learning about the great fire of London. They can recall key dates and are currently thinking like historians about causes and effects, and why a similar event would be unlikely today or in the future. Please continue the conversation at home.

Year 3 have this week been artists both indoors in their discrete art learning and outside as part of their Forest School learning. They have told me all bout tonking, sgraffito and impasto techniques and used these to create monsters!

Year 3 have begun thinking like historians about stone age life, beginning with the chronology and what we can learn from cave paintings left behind. This links (whilst retaining the distinctiveness of history) with their growing scientific knowledge of rocks and soils.

Year 4 today had a wonderful day exploring unfamiliar careers and skills at the APF2024 Forestry show. They could see how much of what they learn in forest school sessions is related to work in the outside world. A great day out! Thank you @APFexhibition

See you all back at school in the morning. Remember gates will now be open at 8:35am, with learning starting in classrooms at 8:45am. Collection will be at 3:15pm. This is the same for all children. If you have more than one child to collect, start with the youngest and work up.
