@TSSRiftbound Ban Windswept Hillock (don’t like non games which Leblanc will get on this battlefield a lot) Ban Defy (way too efficient of a counter, needed to be 3 cost not 4)

Ok for my Pro Riftbound Players out there! What is the 3 biggest things that seperate Professional players from the "Semi-Hardcore" What makes you more consistent, able to top cut almost every event etc.. vs someone who still puts in a ton of hours and just misses.

@e3tcg @ADCourtneyy Hence why the game is just so fun. It has a really good gradient of high ceiling low floor and high floor high ceiling that can draw in players of any experience level

@ADCourtneyy In riftbound, at top level play, almost every deck is high agency.

I've been thinking a lot recently about player agency in TCGs and how the level of agency your deck gives you determines your play style. Agency is basically a sliding scale, with high agency decks giving the player more control and low agency decks taking away player control. For example, in Riftbound, a high agency deck is something like Irelia or Diana, where you make lots of decisions to win. A low agency deck is something like Aurora or even Rek'Sai. Decks can also fall in the middle of the slider, like Lillia. So choosing a deck isn't really about the legend or specific play style, but more about how much agency you want in a deck. I like decks with some agency, but not full agency. It's interesting to think about.

This looks like crackhead stuff so its probably good

If you are a complete moron and want to win at Riftbound, I got the deck for you. After we made the best of Leona list for Sydney, this was my next project with Darius. It started as a deck with 9 ways to score a point on turn 1 before your opponent can even do anything with the red seals. We have since dialed it back a bit and decided on 7 units as the bottleneck is more seal, than the 8th and 9th unit. The additions of Pyke really helps this as its also a good card all around. Notables: Shadow's Call is a good inclusion but it got a little bricky but can still be built around, especially with honest broker Falling Star is OP in this format Vi, of course, is an all star this format. Forerunner is very underrated in this format, when you're this aggressive people can't afford to Star Cross it. I tried Beans and it's okay with hidden and ambush Voidseeker is a good card in this meta to answer both Yi and Vex, helps leverage seal as well Lot of accelerates Marai is underrated, had 3 of them at a point, very underrated hide card at reaction speed. Rengar (Spirit) is a good include as well Side in Manufactor for the Dog when going second with the Cuck Seat Most of the sideboard is for Aurora and Irelia/Yi with Cull. Game 1 Aspirants Go Second Cuck Seat Go First Grove Very routinely when going first can go Seal > Pyke > untap gank to 3. On Aspirants Game, go immediately to 4. #Riftbound

These are the 4 Horsemen of the meta. If your deck isn't playing one or both of these, you better be playing a combo oriented deck ie Aurora or Hook #riftbound

Fun little artifact: here was my first pass at Hook LB when UNL was spoiled. Moved on quickly to work on Leona/Poppy/Ivern instead but let's just say the boys are better than me at the game LOL

@MonkeyVanguard I think high punish gameplay is a pro not a con but people are going to feel differently on that and I certainly respect that opinion. I am sad UVS was the partner chosen as well but Riot has solid communication and has listened to the base. Konami is infinitely worse sadly

@MonkeyVanguard As a prior yugioh player I agree the game can have a similar feel on its interaction and complexity. I am gonna lightly push back on some of the cons - Every card game has “do you have the out” gameplay IMO - there will always be situations where you need specific cards

I played in a riftbound locals for the first time last night. While I enjoyed it, I can't stress enough how much the game plays out like Yugioh with extra steps. It's got all the same Strengths and Weaknesses.

“Reading the card explains the card” except in Riftbound where you need to follow various dev twitter accounts, regularly check for errata in their rules hub, and wait for FAQs to explain how things work because the wording and rules don’t support what the card actually says
