Yesterday we received a DM.
Do you have room for a hound puppy who needs vet care asap from a rural NC shelter.
Found next to his dead mom w/o food or water his legs are stiff, joints swollen.
Mom had to say no to several requests this week because we are so full & have high vet expenses.
We don’t know exactly what’s wrong or how much it’s going to cost.
No pledges or matches but she just couldn’t say no to Duckie.

This is Daria Sapun, 31, and her daughter Anna — just 2 years old.
Anna Sapun was killed in Odessa during a massive russian attack on the night of April 6, 2026. Her mother, Daria, was killed alongside her. They never made it to the shelter.
Anna was a long-awaited child, born on June 23, 2023. She had just started kindergarten. She loved drawing and puzzles.
“Annie was our sunshine — bright, kind, smiling, and very active. She wanted to know everything,” her father Pavel said.
A life stolen by russian terror.

The body of another child was found under the debris. Russia killed two kids and 14 adults in Kyiv today. It injured 57 more. I can't find words. I am aching and sorry for everyone whose lives were ruined by Russia. RIP.
