Personally hope that we can push back on some of that and trust players to be okay with being a little uncomfortable - to focus less on the UI compasses and quest arrows and map blips, and more on the roads and street signs and characters along the way.

Saw someone critique Morrowind as "you have to talk to NPCs instead of follow quest markers" and I find it a bit sad that some see game worlds as only lists of errands to follow. We should aspire for games to have worlds where its inhabitants are substance over filler.
