@otokyo__ Not convinced God would be impressed by belief in a prescriptive version of him as created by any faith, even if it is the right one. Not sure what morality looks like to god but reasoning for oneself means that you are capable of having a frank discussion with the deity.

@Headteacherchat Louis Cayer (tennis coach) says, if the player is absolutely clear in their mind as to what they are trying to achieve, then they can learn and develop just about any skill. I think he is right whilst at the same time, I think learning objectives do not meet that criteria.

Do you think writing learning objectives in childrens’ books adds real value, or is it just another box-ticking exercise? Curious to hear what others think, waste of time or worthwhile practice?

@zatzi @TheAliceSmith He said this deliberately to send a message to his fellow Marxist-Leninists that he is one of them. The Chagos deal was clearly part of the agenda to undermine Britain either on behalf of, or to signal to, the Chinese Communist Party.

Cannot believe Keir Starmer just referenced a “great leap forward” When Mao did that, 55m people died. Whether consciously or subconsciously it’s an appalling parallel to have made.

These two things don’t add up. Farage accepted £5m from a foreign-based billionaire for his own security. The same Farage refuses to hold surgeries in his Clacton constituency due to concerns about his security. So what was the £5 million actually for?

@ShakinthatChalk Sparx encouraged a written element to their homework. We initially offered exercise books that were to be reviewed regularly. It defeated the point of Sparx with the amount of admin and punishment of students that had done the Sparx but not brought the written part was flawed.

Thought for the day, Most homework now is probably being done by AI. If schools don’t act quickly we’re implicitly teaching children not only to use AI but to use it to avoid study and accept that cheating works. This may have far reaching consequences for future study.

@DanaPalubiak I have heard teachers complain that students copy the style of Diary of a Wimpy Kid in their writing and that it doesn't meet high standards. I understand teachers not allowing children to read the entire series of these books. You may well be right though, all reading is good.

The only bad book is the one a child doesn't read. Captain Underpants. Dog Man. Graphic novels. Comic books. Who cares? They're building stamina, vocabulary, and the quiet confidence that comes from finishing a book. I say stop policing and start celebrating reading!
Bryant@SullyBusiness

Do NOT read the underwear slop books to your children. So many better options. Takes a bit to get into the rhythm but my 4yo and 3yo are really enjoying “real” books.

Is parental support one of the biggest factors in a child’s success at school? Not expensive tutors. Not screens full of “educational apps.” Just: reading with them asking about their day practising times tables showing education matters Agree or disagree?

WATCH: Asked Nigel Farage last night abt his £5m gift from Christopher Harborne. Why did he not just declare? Does he regret that? What’s his response to those who argue it looks dodgy? He said my Qs were a “waste of space" & was clearly annoyed in what became a tense exchange
Sky News@SkyNews

Nigel Farage told Sky's @BethRigby that he took a £5 million gift from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne in early 2024, before he announced he would stand for parliament, for 'protection'

@Ameer_Kotecha Probably because large swathes of investment funds are riding on the success of weapons manufacturers in producing weapons that murder civilians, increases in immigration to the UK and the wider morality of the Israeli state that we are supporting carrying out numerous war crimes

I still sometimes cannot believe that Gaza - a faraway conflict (that currently has a ceasefire) - is dictating how some people are voting in council elections in the UK. 99.9% of these Green and Gaza Independent candidates and voters have never been to Gaza. Most barely understand the issue. Having been there and worked on it it’s undoubtedly a depressing situation all round, and a knotty geopolitical problem - as it has been for over a century. But the idea that it should be the deciding factor in how people are voting here is absurd. These people don’t vote based on the famine in Haiti or displacement in Myanmar. So I find it very hard to escape the conclusion their Gaza obsession is down to extremely effective propaganda and/or raw sectarianism

The future beckons: an Israel-supporting party that will deport 2 million people, whose leader made a point in his teenage years of persecuting Jewish students at his school, so say some of those former students. All's well that ends well.

@RickoftheBraid @TadhgHickey The problem with immigration is that most politicians desire it (cheap labour, support a top heavy age pyramid) but pretend they don't because it wins them votes.

@TadhgHickey The left needs to address immigration. Can't keep burying heads. If people are complaining then 100% there is a problem. Either that problem is real or perception. Either way it needs to be addressed and not with a 'fuck you racist' attitude.

Fuck all is achieved by calling Reform voters thick and racist. It feeds into the polarisation of society that the Epstein / Billionaire class love, it's their life blood. That Reform is in the ascendancy in rural and working class areas should hasten self-relection and shame for the left, not name calling.

Mosques in England reportedly instructed their congregations to not vote for Labour or the Tories because they support LGBT rights, and instead told them to vote Green, which they’re calling a Muslim party. The Green Party is now the biggest left-wing party in the UK and could basically be divided into two factions: An LGBT and communist one that supports sex changes for minors and drug liberalization, and a Muslim faction that wants Sharia law. They have nothing in common except their shared hatred of Israel. So how is that going to work? It won’t end well, that’s for sure.

I’m sick to death of Palestine having anything to do with the way people vote in Britain. Vote for how things are dealt with in BRITAIN!’ - We have lost our minds if we think this is acceptable!

I just voted for three fantastic independent candidates in Finsbury Park who oppose austerity, stand up to racism and support the people of Palestine. Today, a new kind of politics is on the ballot — and community power will win!
