Coaches and players don’t focus on fixing the system. Everybody just wants to be the one who escapes it. The mentality is simple: “I must succeed, even if the system remains broken.” Many coaches think: “As long as refereeing decisions favor me, I will keep quiet. If it hurts me today, maybe it helps me tomorrow.” And the moment one coach speaks out against corruption, poor officiating, poor welfare, or bad structures, other coaches try to pull him back down. “Come back here with us.” Crabs in a bucket. Players are trapped in the same mindset. Go to a scouting event in Nigeria and you may find 1,000 players. The scouts may be fake. The setup may be terrible. Welfare may be horrible. The entire event may be badly organized. But if one or two players get picked, everybody suddenly calls it a success. Nobody asks: Why was the structure bad? Why were 998 players exploited? How do we improve the process? As long as one person escapes the bucket, the bucket is accepted.

That Mbuemo miss is why I keep saying "assist" is an overrated stats. Bruno is not in control of the final outcome despite putting him through on goal. Referencing my posts on "goals": it is the most important stats in football.
