What is everyone using for a bench mark for business/investment opportunities? I figure needs to be 20% return minimum depending on time commitment. Curious everyone’s thought

Looking for a middle of the road .22 250 to shoot coyotes with. I am not much a hunter or into guns crazy. Just looking for something good but not super high priced.

@bl_ag_inc It’s a constant struggle with growth. You need the infrastructure to grow but you don’t quite have the growth to support the price of the infrastructure. I personally purchase used equipment that needs work and fix it up.

I’ve said before, realtors/brokers are ones making money from “farm assets” this year. In my small part of the world, there’s been $28m+ worth of land sell at public auctions in last 7 weeks. Not counting dozens of private sales. Low estimate of 5% commission, $1.3m to brokers.

There are 2 farms in Iowa that have made the $30,000/acre club. Both farms highest & best use: corn & soybean production. 11/11/2022- $30,000/acre; new record 12/01/2025- $32,000/acre

@mediaking talks about it quite a bit, but having the ability to stay focused and get 1% better everyday for 5-7-10 years is an incredibly underrated skill. Virtually impossible to not have some level of success after 10 years.

@bl_ag_inc Good employees more than cover there cost. You just need to survive the 24-36 months it takes to recoup the investments. Also having employees you can count on gives you time to focus on other areas to increase revenue

“You’re saying potash is cheap right now?” Well, cheaper than phosphorus, yeah. “And your blanket recommendation is to spread potash based on a chemical extraction?” That’s correct, Dave. “Any nutrient cycling data?” No, sir. “No context? Just price compared to phosphorus and a ppm value?” Yep.

@schuelkecorn Seems like there is moderate control with repeated applications. It won’t take it away completely but will reduce the yield loss

Who has experience & opinions on Contans? We have whole fields/large chunks of fields with nightmare levels of sclerotia, and im tired of it. If this product kills sclerotia, does it kill good things? My gut plan is to spray 2#/ac of it this fall on soybean stubble, then chisel.
