School meetings have officially kicked off for 2026, and there’s been strong momentum from the outset to book in our Work-Based Learning Services in Term 1. It’s been energising to see such clear commitment from schools to prioritise real-world learning opportunities.

Beacon was proud to attend and contribute to the Youth Participation and Empowerment Guide Workshops led by the Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) in partnership with Youth Network of Tasmania.

Across Southern Tasmania, through the DECYP Work-Based Learning Services contract, they have already brokered more than 100 work placements. This means young people can step straight into the year with real, hands-on experience of the world of work. beaconfoundation.org.au/find-us

Southern Tasmania students explored the heart of our democracy this week during a Beacon Work-based Learning activity at the Parliament of Tasmania. A special thank you to the Premier of Tasmania, The Hon Jeremy Rockliff MP, for taking time to speak with students.
