Thank you @JenniferKillick! The children were made up with their bookmarks and the lovely postcard! They’re very much looking forward to your new book!
@scriptwren@jolivsey@XFrecklesXo I’ve used holes for Year 6. Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell is brilliant. I haven’t done it with 6 but I loved it as a book to read myself: magic, mayhem and some peril. We do Explorers by her in 6 but she is very vocabulary rich and thematically mature.
I’m looking for a year 8 novel for next year which is not hideously depressing. Currently Boy in the Striped Pyjamas on the curriculum and I cannot face another year of it! Everything I have googled sounds dystopian and grim. I would like something inspiring and fun.
@WestHamPlace I think it’s just a few loud people. Most of us panic at a 3 goal lead watching them at ER 😂 we often use the term “Leedsy” to describe said unfortunate events haha

@tes Surely all primary and secondary teachers know this. Silly mark schemes, useless data, done at a point in the year that the whole curriculum hasn’t been taught so the Gov. can mark them. Nothing more than a stick to beat us with, definitely not for the benefit of children.
The government has been urged to review national tests after a poll showed that most teachers don't think KS2 Sats provide useful data to help students starting secondary school

@bphillipsonMP@TheSun Identifying needs isn’t the central issue. Support for children and teachers once issues are identified is. 2-3 years on waiting lists for mental health support/ diagnosis, removal of LSA’s due to budget cuts… how does any of that support children in school?
We're improving support for children with additional needs across 1,200 more schools.
I've seen this programme in action, I've seen children thriving as a result, I know the difference it makes.
Labour demands excellence, everywhere, for every child.
@bphillipsonMP I’d rather not have the pay rise if it’s firstly, going to damage the quality of education and secondly, risk redundancy. School’s can’t afford this!
Teachers are getting a 4% pay rise.
We’re seeing green shoots on teacher recruitment and retention, turning the tide on year-on-year decreases.
Now, we must go further and faster to deliver excellence, everywhere for every child – together
I'm doing a #giveaway of my latest book to celebrate the Bank Holiday weekend! *Like and retweet to enter.* Winner announced Monday evening.

@TheLeedsPress No. He’s all ego. I don’t want a manager who would think they’re bigger than the club. Also, he’s had his best day; he’s not what he was at Chelsea.
