I think the shroud is real, and think it’s awesome evidence for the resurrection. However it’s not “essential” evidence, we still have the Bible and much more evidence Jesus rose from the dead

Marshall blocked me, so I can’t repost. • Multiple tests affirm the Shroud of Turin is from the medieval period. • An entombed body found near Jerusalem and dated to the 1st century does not resemble the SoT in how the Jews buried their dead. • John 20:7 disproves the SoT.

@MizJChristian @WWUTTcom That’s pretty flimsy. Fact is we can’t recreate it with today’s technology. Blood samples show the person in the shroud was torchard beyond comprehension, had type AB blood, pollen samples in the shroud are from Jerusalem, I mean cmon it’s obvious it’s authentic.

Not being able to fully explain how the image was formed doesn’t mean it’s authentic—it just means we don’t fully understand the process. “Unexplained” is not the same as “miraculous.” As for the carbon dating, the claim about a repaired section has been proposed, but it hasn’t been definitively proven to overturn the original results. So the medieval dating still stands as the strongest direct evidence we have.

@WWUTTcom I agree with you. Taken together, the medieval dating, the mismatch with known Jewish burial practices, and the tension with John 20:7 make the Shroud very difficult to defend as authentic.
