The safety of our children is paramount. With the flash flooding and rapidly moving water, the bridges certainly need to be inspected for everyone's safety.
Tipton Co Schools@TCSchools_

Hey @TCSchools_ families! I just received a call from the County Public Works Director and he shared concern about the bridges because the water has been too high for them to be inspected. Apologies for the inconvenience, but we aren’t going to run buses across any of the county’s 15 bridges until they are deemed safe. For that reason, there will be no school tomorrow, Monday April 7th. Offices will be open.

Luck has nothing to do with a safe ride home. If you drive impaired, it could cost you your driver’s license, your freedom, your life, or someone else’s. #FridayThe13th

It is illegal to pass a school bus that has stopped to load or unload students. Never pass on the right side of the bus, as this is where the children enter or exit. #BackToSchoolSafetyMonth

School is in session! 🏫 That means more children outside during certain hours. Slow down and watch for children playing and gathering near the bus stop! #BackToSchoolSafetyMonth

Make the driver’s seat a No Cell Zone! Put devices in ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode to avoid the urge to check notifications on the road, or let a trusted passenger handle messages, music, or navigation for you! More: tntrafficsafety.org/distracted-dri…

Because kids and teens are less predictable, and younger children move more slowly, they need more time to cross the street. Be especially cautious and alert for children on residential streets, near parks and playgrounds, and in school zones.

#BackToSchool season means increased foot traffic in and around neighborhoods. If you’re driving, look out for pedestrians at all times, especially around schools.

While getting back in the school routine, take a few minutes to review transportation safety tips from @NHTSA. It’s important for all drivers, as well as parents and students, to understand school bus safety. 🚌

School will be back in session across Tennessee very soon, so don’t let safety slip. Remind your kids to always wear a helmet while riding a bike, and a seat belt in the car, every time. Read more: tntrafficsafety.org/bike-ped

Just like seat belts and bicycle helmets, car seats are tested and proven to be effective, as long as they are used properly.

🗣️ Being a passenger means looking out for each other. Don’t stay silent if the driver is dangerously speeding or driving recklessly. You could prevent a dangerous situation with a gentle intervention. #PassengerSafety #SlowDownTN

Empty roads are not a free pass to speed. Your own safety on the roadway is important, even if there are no other vehicles in sight. #SlowDownTN
