@kinetizen @americanmcgee I genuinely recommend you "Before Your Eyes". Although it's less exploratory and plays the story in front of the viewer, it has a very strong emotional narrative and interesting mechanic of how player interacts with it. To me it and WRoEF are two games I think equally fondly of.

@americanmcgee A favorite of mine in the so-called walking sim genre is What Remains of Edith Finch, which still hasn't been equaled in storytelling or genuine emotional impact to this day.

In light of recent comments about the nature of games like Mixtape, I think it's worth noting that I strongly believe the idea of "games" exists along a spectrum. And that I don't consider myself a "game designer" in general. Only in a very specific range of design, narrative, and experience. The games I enjoy and the games I create are often filled with long sections of quiet exploration. Something I've seen dubbed as "asset tourism" for the fact that you're strolling past 3D game assets that you may never see again. On the other hand, I consider games like Silk Song (based on what I've heard) to be beyond the difficulty range where I can derive enjoyment. There's nothing wrong with any of these experiences. Though they provide plentiful fuel for rage bait and general debate. I say, make the games you want to make. And play the games you want to play. And beyond that, live and let live. As an aside, this exact same debate springs forth with our @PlushieDreadful designs. People assume (incorrectly) that our designs are meant to be everything to everyone. The truth is, those designs express a very narrow area of the spectrum along which people experience trauma and mental/physical health issues. As the internet once proclaimed, it's OK to not like things. And you don't have to be a dick about it 😂

@UtuberVolk33191 I dislike drawing characters solely for their design like just.. standing there. To me it's a little bit aimless, so I usually try to find an emotion/story/idea to connect with, or to express. Being melancholic person, naturally I pivot towards more psychologically loaded art.

@BeastRedAsh I understand that. It's just that it's very difficult for me to understand the topic of conveying my emotions through a character. Pendleton was sad in the illustration. Did it really mean that you were desperate and tired of everything? But you have great pictures. Cool

@UtuberVolk33191 A middle man basically someone, who has ability to use foreign banks. Usually it's a friend/family member/etc. in other country, who is not affected by restrictions. How one would like to tackle things with that said middle man - settles between them by themselves.

@BeastRedAsh This situation seems very sad. If I understand correctly, an intermediary is a person who pays for an illustration instead of me, and I just get it.

@UtuberVolk33191 I resonated with his desire of ending things due to despair and frustration, as well as found it interesting to combine this with his feelings of guilt towards not saving women, when he was alive. A parallel between these two subjects, a contrast between confetti and blood.

@BeastRedAsh Does each character represent a real emotion you feel? When you drew a crying Pendleton holding a gun, was it an allegory for your sadness and grief?

@UtuberVolk33191 Unless you have a middle man, then sadly, yea, it's a bit of a pickle to tackle payments from Russia. I currently accept payments only through Paypal and BuyMeACoffee, and I haven't looked into other options.

@BeastRedAsh Hmm, I see. As I said, I'm from Russia, but I see that you're working for a foreign audience. I think it's impossible to pay through Russian banks because of this. Really?

@UtuberVolk33191 For Lucifer I have many ideas and part of them are in the process, I just don't have enough of time and focus to stretch myself this thin across every subject I'd like to draw. For Pentious I don't really have ideas of what I emotionally want to explore with him.

@BeastRedAsh And in general, new Pendleton or Lucifer artworks are planned (he hasn't been around for a long time)?

@UtuberVolk33191 Yes, pretty much any character can be commissioned. There are certain themes/ships I might not portray (I usually specify everything, when open the slots), but other than that, majority of stuff is welcomed :)

@BeastRedAsh Tell me, please, if you were commissioned to paint a Maestro, would you take it up? Or would you not portray this character even if you were paid to do so?

@UtuberVolk33191 Split payment is not an issue. I can't say when I will be offering commissions on X and Bsky again, but whenever that happens - a post will be made with all the info regarding this matter.

@BeastRedAsh A hundred dollars? I think that if I wish, I can handle this amount for the product, if, of course, you have a two-stage payment. I would not be able to pay the entire amount at once. Anyway, I'm sad to hear that the orders are closed. When will they be available again?

@BeastRedAsh Well, I also like Tom Trench, Pendleton and Satan. Is there a chance to see any of them? Pendleton has already been there, but nevertheless. Probably, the Maestro and these characters are only available in the order format, and, unfortunately, they are now closed.

@UtuberVolk33191 Depending on type of illustration, prices start around 100 USD for one character and climb up from there, depending on rendering style, background and complexity of composition. Currently, I don't offer commissions.
