@terrychristian He definitely didn’t fit Amorims system. I get that can lead to a loss of motivation but effort should be non negotiable I’m sure he upset a lot of people. A young, successful black lad from a working class background doing what should have been done by the over privileged few!

A lot of it down to lack of confidence - being played out of position ( similar to Casimero) negative press attention because he fed poor kids - Harry Maguire suffered from lack of confidence and negative press attention too - but for a vicious drunken night club brawl on holiday
James Best@Beastman99

@terrychristian I agree that Rashford was very harshly treated for his mistakes compared to white players (see Jack Grealish recently for an example). If he wanted to be at the club I’d have him back but truth be told he doesn’t. Much of that probably because of the press.

Casimero got digs about being too old he wasn't harshly accused of being 'lazy, arrogant, and usual systemic racist tropes used almost exclusively for Black footballers when they appear a bit 'despondent' on the pitch or suffer from poor form.
James Best@Beastman99

@terrychristian I don’t recall seeing many videos of Casemiro jogging or walking when out of possession. If you have or know of any feel free to show me… Rashford did not (does not) want to be at Utd. Casemiro has always come across as a player that wants to be at the club.

Alex Ferguson 🗣️: “I was 33 years old, and a young boy came to my office on a Tuesday and said, ‘Boss, can I have Friday off?’ And I said, ‘Why do you want Friday off?’ He said, ‘My mother has died.’ You’re beaten. What can you do? And I went, ‘Oh, of course, son.’ From that moment on, if a player came to me and said, ‘I want tomorrow off,’ I said yes. In the case of Cristiano Ronaldo, I knew his father was ill. I knew he was in the hospital, and it was important for him to be there. It didn’t matter about the football club. Some things are bigger than the football club, and family is definitely one of them, without question. You should never, ever put a club before your family.”

Genuine question. If a manager spends £500m in two years and doesn’t win the PL or the CL in either - is he a failure and does he deserve the sack? Can he be included in the “greatest of all time” discussion?

@lukestanley03 If it was at the Etihad I don’t think anyone would say anything but city made a decision to the detriment of the competition & those competing in it to try & save some face For those young players this game may be the pinnacle of their career and it’s a shame City don’t see that

Darren Fletcher confirms @ManUtd offered to host FA Youth Cup final at Old Trafford: “I think we tried, because we really wanted a big stadium, and Old Trafford would have been amazing occasion for the players. We’re disappointed because I think part of this competition is about playing in these big venues, and it's a massive competition. It's special. It's got special history, players who have won it still talk about it now to this day, even if they've gone on and won Premier Leagues, they talk about how amazing it was to win with their youth team and their friends. So, we're disappointed for everyone, disappointed for the Man City players, for our players fundamentally, and for the fans.”

@TheAthleticFC @lauriewhitwell Good. Stability is needed, he deserves the opportunity & with some good recruitment in the summer I think we have a great chance of progressing. With the right coaches around him he could be successful

@ArenaRMFC And this is what makes me laugh when people say SAF wouldn’t succeed in modern football. He was so far ahead of his time in terms of managing PEOPLE that the footballing world still hasn’t caught up to where he was 20-30 years ago.

@ArenaRMFC SAF didn’t manage a football club. He managed people… and as a result they would run through walls for him. Average players looked world class because they would be willing to die for that man!

@terrychristian I guess we see different things. And that’s cool Casemiro has been with Utd 4 years and maybe was out of sorts for 6 months, Rashford couldn’t be bothered for a year or two imo FWIW one of my lads would give absolutely anything to see Rashford back at Utd playing his best again

Again , didn't Casimero down tools for best part of 2 seasons, looked like he couldn't be arsed . And on more money than Rashford ....so how was Rashford's lack of form 'downing tools' but Casimero's wasn't . Answers on a postcard
manU@a_0reIlLy

@terrychristian 2 words.. work rate Downing tools because of disillusion is a sloppy buy out. You do your best on the pitch no matter what its your damn job

@jonmikesav8 I will happily admit I was one that wanted OGS gone. Now… if 100% take home back. Carrick gives me similar feelings that Ole did at that time. He deserves the chance based on the results he has gotten & the lack of suitable alternatives on the market.

If you are not in favour of Michael Carrick getting the job that’s absolutely fine. That is your choice and has to be respected. I just have 1 question. How well have experienced top class coaches done post SAF?

@BrianRSolomon @KevinLamb74 I used to really dislike the prequels, I was 19 when TPM came out and they just did not live up to my expectations Since having kids though my opinion has changed - seeing how much they love the prequels (my 3rd child (9yo) lists episodes 1 & 3 in his top 3 films of all time!)

@KevinLamb74 This is awful. It’s like watching a video game. This giant dumb mess of a scene epitomized what made the prequels so terrible, and why they were such a disappointment for people who loved the original movies.

Have Disney's failures and Hamill's TDS gotten you down? Episode II's battle on Geonosis is just the remedy. Pure pulp action in the tradition of John Carter of Mars. 🔥

United & Everything Football
💭 Only 6 times out of 13 premier league title winning seasons did a United player with football writers player of the year but people think an Arsenal player deserves it because of a title they haven’t actually won yet. United won a treble in 99 but yet the individual award went to Spurs’ David Ginola. His team finished 11th. Read the reasons why below. We don’t want to hear that “team trophies argument”. Heck, Scott Parker won it with a relegated West Ham. Man had his shirt tucked in and his shorts way up his belly button, spinning like a bottle top in midfield and these writers still voted for him when United won the title. No one made a fuzz. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Stuart Atwell is the worst ref in the premier league. How he keeps getting given utd games is beyond me because he is clearly incompetent and corrupt

@henrywinter @sampilger 14 years… you’re obviously a lot older than I thought you were or you started at age 10 🤣 From 1993 to 2013 Utd won the league 13 times & a player won the FW poty award only 6 times. I don’t recall many journalists writing about how it should be about glory on those occasions

Congratulations to Bruno Fernandes voted Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year. Superb for Manchester United in a tough season. I voted Declan Rice for driving Arsenal to within touching distance now of the Premier League & Champions League. The game’s about glory.

Bruno Fernandes is a wonderful player and has had an excellent season - in the Premier League. If the Footballer of the Year award was a PL award, there could be few arguments about him winning. But Declan Rice has won more games (35) than Bruno has played (34), is on course to play around half a season more than Fernandes in terms of matches and has won player of the match awards throughout the run to the Champions League final and has been key to Arsenal being in a position to win the PL with three games to go. Same could be said for Gabriel and David Raya. Doesn't feel like the right winner to me, despite Fernandes' fine form, especially since the turn of the year.

@1968Tv For me the interesting thing about that World Cup is that the England squad numbers were in alphabetical order (Brooking no.3) except Keegan who got his usual No.7 2 league groups & England went out without losing a game I think (feel free to correct me if I am wrong)

With England having to win by two goals, manager Ron Greenwood turns to Kevin Keegan and Trevor Brooking off the bench in their first appearances in the tournament after injuries.
