Please do not pretend to understand my motivation. I have absolutely no problems with immigration; legal immigration where we actually check on the health of the individuals coming here. A smarter populace makes for a stronger and better society FOR EVERYONE. Facts matter. Safety and security matters. Knowledge matters, and I’m simply stating a fact. If you don’t like the message, don’t blame the messenger. It is what it is.

Parents Tried to Shield Their Children From Vaccines. Instead They Got Measles. “I will choose what’s right for my family,” one parent said. “I have this right.” A South Carolina county is ground zero for the largest measles outbreak since 2000. One school has a vaccination rate of just 21%. Read more: nyti.ms/4l5qNsM

@whatsinourH2O @JamesTate121 That's not a fact. You're mistaking correlation with causation because you want to villify immigrants. If American parents would just vaccinate their kids these outbreaks would not be happening.

Facts just don’t matter, I guess. Did you miss the part where the CDC deemed Measles eradicated in the US as of 2000? We’ve had many families who didn’t vaccinate their children for decades, with nearly zero outbreak of measles. In fact the Amish never do, but they also don’t expose themselves to outsiders. Now you want to blame American moms and dads for the outbreak which has clearly come from abroad? I vaccinated my children and don’t regret it but I’m not going to force another to follow suit. If they want to risk it, it’s up to them. My children are protected. But know this, the uptick in measles can be directly linked to the foreign invasion. It’s a fact.

Well, from Grok: In 2010, 63 measles cases were reported in the United States. This figure comes from CDC surveillance data and represents a very low number in the post-elimination era (measles was declared eliminated in the US in 2000, meaning no continuous endemic transmission). Gee, what changed, I wonder? Could it be 15 million unvaccinated and unvetted foreigners were let in? Yes. You don’t need a big brain to make this determination.

@whatsinourH2O @JamesTate121 That's absolutely untrue. I had my kids in 2010 and even then forgoing childhood vaccines was being pushed by "crunchy" moms. This is an ongoing American problem that has nothing to do with immigration.

@JamesTate121 Measles was nearly eradicated in the states. What changed that? Short answer: Biden’s open borders. Fact.

@Broom0x If CEOs lay off all the employees in favor of AI, who is going to be able to afford buying their services? Ashley can't pay for XYZ product if she doesn't have an income so what are these companies going to do when everyone is out of work and broke?

This is the most dangerous cope in tech discourse right now. "Ashley in accounts doesn't want agentic AI, she just wants to check her vet bill." Correct. Ashley doesn't want it. Ashley's CEO does. And Ashley doesn't get a vote. She gets laid off anyway. Every job described in this post... the office manager, the accounts person at the nonprofit, the admin who likes the Tuesday meeting... is a job made almost entirely of routine cognitive tasks. Invoice processing. Scheduling. Document routing. Email triage. That's not a moat. That's a target list. We've already watched it start. 150,000+ tech layoffs in 2023. Another wave in 2024. Now it's spreading out of tech and into the roles nobody's watching... back office, admin, support, operations. The jobs where the math is simplest: $52K/year employee vs $200/month AI subscription. The CFO doesn't need a meeting for that one. I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH MORE I CAN SAY: I AM PERSONALLY AUTOMATING THESE PEOPLE OUT OF A JOB. IT IS REAL. "People like meetings because they like chatting." They do. Their employers like margins more. The software engineer in Menlo Park isn't getting replaced first — they build the machine. The people described in this post ARE the ones the machine gets built to replace. And they won't see it coming because the product isn't sold to them. It's sold to the person who signs their paycheck. The 160 million workers who've never heard of Slack aren't the ones AI can't reach. They're the ones with no idea what's coming.
Tom Goodwin@tomfgoodwin

When are tech folk going to get that people like wasting time, it's life. They don't optimize for efficiency, they try to get by, they watch dumb stuff, they enjoy shopping. Inefficiency is another work for living and life. Your m mean and median job isn't a software engineer in Menlo Park, it's Ashley in accounts in a not for profit in Columbus, it's Jesse , the office manager for a tool rental business in Tallahassee, they are more likely to use a Fax machine than Slack. They quite like meetings because they like chatting, they'll use AI to make a better invite to their baby shower, not agentify their job. These people, nor their bosses boss, aren't in a rush to build software as a side hustle, they are keen to use AI to check if their vet is overcharging them. They'd like AI to check spelling on the email to the school governor. They don't want agentic commerce, they want AI to be in the background and make living a little less stressful

I’ll summarise the video for you: 1. She has PCOS and hypothyroidism, which makes losing weight difficult. 2. She tried working out to lose weight but was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in the process. 3. She went into depression during this period. 4. She took Mounjaro, lost a significant amount of weight successfully, and explained the struggles she faced due to increasing weight and its impact on her life.

This is silly. The child chose to participate, left school against policy, and needs to take responsibility for her choices. Suing the school is just transferring the blame because Mom is unhappy with her kid's choices.
Jonathan Turley@JonathanTurley

The mother of a child hit by a car during an anti-ICE protest is blaming the school for facilitating the protest without taking steps to protect the students. wowt.com/2026/01/30/mot… This could lead to an interesting lawsuit as schools play direct roles in fueling protests...

@emzanotti Everyone needs The Joy of Cooking. Its not just a recipe book, its basically a text book with information about ingredients, process, everything. I actually wore out my first copy from 25 years ago and had to replace it.

I have a whole section on my Substack on how to stock a pantry and outfit a kitchen (link in bio), which is the necessary first step to cooking for yourself. It’s what people need to do to get this under control. The biggest issue with cooking now is that people aren’t learning how to make meals, they’re just bookmarking social media influencer recipes, and those recipes are expensive, often not well-tested, and use ingredients no one has on hand. If you bookmark five recipes from TikTok, you’re going to spend a lot of money on stuff you’re never going to use again. The key is to start using what you have and learning to cook from the ground up. It’s not hard, I promise.

Lost in the background of the horrific murder of Alex Pretti is that an ICE agent walked up to a woman who was actively backing away from him and shoved her with two hands, sending her sprawling backwards onto an icy sidewalk. He then tries to pepper spray her while she is prone on the ground. There is no justification for this physical violence against her. She isn't resisting arrest and she isn't threatening the agent. He crossed the street to physically attack her. This is not normal. This is not ok. Law enforcement cannot physically assault citizens on the street. Any police officer who did this would lose their job. We've seen countless examples of ICE initiating physical violence with no justification. This cannot be normalized.

I have 14 year old identical twin sons, and I have mentioned before how their very existence has convinced me that we are born who we are to a very large extent. A funny story tonight illustrating how different they are: Twin A, talking to Twin B: "Dude, have you been using my toothbrush? I wrote our NAMES on them in PERMANENT market." Twin B: "Oh, yeah. Sorry. I don't ever look at that. I just grab a toothbrush." Twin A, horrified: "You just GRAB one!? But you grabbed MY toothbrush tonight!" Twin B: "Relax. It was one time, and it's not like we don't have the same DNA." Twin A: "You don't even KNOW if it was one time. And we have the same DNA...NOT THE SAME MOUTH!" Twin B:
