I’ve written about how the government's cuts agenda conflicts with its employment agenda Reducing the financial support that enables many to access employment will only create further barriers to work for disabled people

Yo! Me and @__francescahope have been working away on this for 9 months. It's been shocking uncovering the harm done across the public sector by debt collection. TL;DR: Council Tax collection in particular needs urgent attention, sign our petition: change.org/p/it-s-time-to…

It's terrifying how quickly one missed council tax payment can result in escalating charges and aggressive demands Important new research from the brilliant @__francescahope + @TbyMrry sheds light on this issue, and the impact it's having on people with mental health conditions

Migrant children whose parents are not allowed access to the public safety net are pushed into poverty. Not only should No Recourse to Public Funds be scrapped but an organisation representing migrant children should be on this taskforce.
Jessica Elgot@jessicaelgot

The government has announced a Child Poverty taskforce - starting with a meeting this morning with Save the Children, Action for Children, Barnados, TUC, End Child Poverty Coalition, Resolution Foundation and UNICEF. What do these organisations say on the two child limit? 🧐

Just watched @becca_stacey's evidence to Select Committee in May. Becca wrote an excellent report on #UniversalCredit in 2020, outlining the safeguards DWP needs to introduce before pressing ahead with Managed Migration. Hopefully the new DWP Minister @stephenctimms remembers it!

"It causes incredible fear, panic, anxiety that can make a condition worse." The Government’s announced welfare reforms have left some people feeling sucidal with 'talk of sanctions' has been hugely damaging among disabled people and other claimants.

Managed migration from legacy benefits to Universal Credit is failing people with mental health problems. The lack of accessible support in the current process puts people at risk of having their benefits cut off. 1/5 🧵

We respond to new government consultation on PIP. “The government is right to recognise that the number of people claiming PIP for mental health reasons is increasing. But the way to solve that isn’t to take away vital support.” Response 👉 bit.ly/3UhxFqg @helen_undy
