Now the museum's closed for the winter our cataloguing volunteers have started work recording objects from our attics and stores. This wonderful art deco style clock has a slot for coins to help you save for insurance. If you don't save the clock stops!

Just one of the fascinating local posters that we have in our collection. Note the secretary at the time was John L Kirk who went on to create York Castle Museum You can see more local posters in our print workshop which also features a working Columbian printing press, 1854.

Local Flowers - This Saturday! We're delighted to announce that we will be stocking beautiful blooms freshly picked from Lockton Flower Farm every Saturday and Monday until the end of the flowering season! Museum shop open Monday to Thursday and Saturday 10-4pm

Heritage Open Day - Behind the Scenes at the Museum Saturday 14 September 10-4pm FREE ENTRY Have you ever wondered how museums decide what to collect, how they store and look after their collections or how they put together an exhibition? This is your chance to find out!

Heritage Craft Day Monday 9 September 10-3pm It's our last craft day of the season and it promises to be a good one! We've got an amazing range of volunteers demonstrating crafts and many producing objects that you can buy in the museum shop.

The sun is shining in Pickering and the Bramble Berry Market is in full swing! Set by the beck in the beautiful grounds of Beck Isle Museum and the Memorial Hall you'll find a huge selection of artisan gifts and produce, as well as live music.

@HeritageFundUK It's a three minute bread maker! You added all your ingredients into the bucket/tub and then mixed by rotating the handle which in turn rotated an arm inside the bucket and mixed the ingredients together!

Noticed that these souvenir cigarettes are 100 years old! They are from the British Empire Exhibition in Wembley 1924. Very different from the freebies or souvenirs we tend to pick up these days! Image also shows them next to the full sized version #BTS @HeritageFundUK
