It was a pleasure to host Dr. Junjie Yao from Duke University at @UCIrvine. Dr. Yao delivered an inspiring presentation, “From Light to Sound: Imaging, Treating, and Building Tissues at Depth.” He highlighted advances in optics, acoustics, and biomedical engineering.

Mihaela Balu and her team at @BeckmanLaser have invented a laser-equipped device that looks beneath the skin surface for signs of melanoma. The goal is to better detect early signs of melanoma – without biopsy – and monitor effectiveness of treatments. 🔖 bit.ly/3OojOz9
