The JLP government must be very careful in involving civil society groups in the drafting of the NaRRA bill. The fact is they were around and could not develop any plans as Jamaica declined for 40 years under PNP before the JLP rescue mission showed up. The proof is there.

An 18-year-old boy is about to be imprisoned in Israel’s torture camps, even though two courts ordered his release and all suspicions against him collapsed. How is that possible? Two and a half weeks ago, Hussein, from a shepherding family in the Jordan Valley, was arrested at a checkpoint while on his way to sell cheese his mother makes from their flock’s milk. Soldiers found a small knife and a face covering in his vehicle. In interrogation, held only 3 days later, Hussein explained the knife is used to open straw bales for feeding sheep, and the covering keeps his face warm in the morning and protects from sun and flies. The court accepted his explanation, ruled he posed no meaningful risk and could not obstruct the investigation, and ordered his release on 5,000 shekels bail. Occupation forces appealed the release order. 3 days later, the appeals court rejected the appeal and again ordered his release. Bail was paid, and his lawyer began release procedures. Nothing happened. Hours later it became clear why: occupation forces held another “hearing,” brought him an unknown Palestinian Authority lawyer because “his lawyer was busy” (busy at the appeals hearing), and extended his detention by six more days in order to issue an administrative detention order. The administrative detention order was issued after 5 days. Why make such an effort to turn an 18-year-old shepherd into a political prisoner? Because Hussein’s family, like many shepherd families in the Jordan Valley, faces settler attacks and harassment, invasions of their homes, denial of grazing, denial of water, livestock theft, army violence, and repeated attempts to expel them. And they refuse to leave. We have known Hussein’s family for years and witnessed dozens of abuses against him, his father, the family, and the community. There is no mystery here: Hussein’s only “crime” is being a proud Palestinian whose family lives on land Israel wants. As of April 2026, about 3,532 Palestinians are held in Israeli torture camps under administrative detention - thousands of people who, like Hussein, are jailed without trial because Israel sees their very existence as an obstacle to the continuation of its atrocities and ethnic cleansing.

🔴 Paramedic massacre in Lebanon. Ambulance teams and members of civil defense were besieged, bombed and murdered tonight by the Israeli army in Majdal Zoun, Tyre district, while carrying out their humanitarian duty rescuing injured civilians. The Lebanese MOH said in a statement that the preliminary death toll now stands at five. Three of them were paramedics. Glory to the martyrs. May they rest in peace.

@swankycamille People fail to understand the pnp don't want the policies of the government to work because they will have nothing to offer to the people in the next election. We need to open our eyes and realise that both parties are not the same. One is pipeline and the other the builder.

This socialist tabloid is always in attack mode, or concerned mode, rather than reporting the news. Like most leftists, when they are called out, they cry victim and try to place themselves above it all. Your job is not to hold anyone accountable except for your employees (who you may want to pay). Report the news!

@JamaicaGleaner No Gleaner, it is you who are wrong! Do civil society groups tell surgeons how to operate in the operating theatre? Do they tell lawyers how to operate in the courtroom? So why do they think they can tell police how to operate? We believe in the independence of police operations.

Olivia Atavia “Babsy” Grange, Jamaican businesswoman, cultural entrepreneur, politician, born 80 years ago on 27 Apr 1946. One of the most influential figures in the development of Jamaica’s reggae and dancehall industries. Born in Downtown Kingston and raised partly in West Kingston, Grange moved to Canada as a young woman, studying at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and co-founding Contrast, the country’s first Black community newspaper. She began her entertainment career there by managing reggae acts such as Carlene Davis and Leroy Sibbles. Returning to Jamaica in the 1970s, she became a leading artiste manager, promoter and event organiser within the Spec Shang collective. She guided the international breakthroughs of Shabba Ranks, Patra, Mad Cobra, Bounty Killer and others, playing a pivotal role in the early 1990s dancehall explosion in the United States. A passionate advocate for creators’ rights, Grange was a founding member and director of the Jamaica Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers (JACAP). Her work helped establish collective licensing and royalty systems that professionalised the Jamaican music business and supported generations of artists. Grange’s parallel political career began in the 1980s with the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP). She served as a Government Senator and Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture (1983–1985), then as Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister (1985–1989). Elected Member of Parliament for St. Catherine Central in 1997, she has held the seat for nearly three decades, becoming Jamaica’s longest-serving female MP. She served as Minister of Information, Youth, Sports and Culture (with responsibility for gender affairs and entertainment) from 2007 to 2011, and has been Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport since 2016 under Prime Minister Andrew Holness. In these roles she has championed cultural industries policy, copyright reform, youth development and gender affairs while continuing to bridge politics and music. In 2009 she was named CARICOM’s first Champion for Culture. #Jamaica #Caribbean

What I keep seeing with Catholics, especially, is disturbing. I have to call it out, because it needs to be said. Their loyalty is not first to the Bible. It is first to Rome. Catholics, and I do not care who it is or where they came from, can read a verse with their own eyes, see it says one thing, then turn around and defend the institution when it says something else. Then they twist, bend, stretch, and explain away the Bible until it sounds like Rome was right all along. Not only is this faithlessness to God, but this is raw religious conditioning. When a person is trained to believe the church cannot be wrong, the Bible no longer corrects them. Scripture can scream, and they still run back to the institution for permission to believe it. That is a dangerous place to be. In Catholicism, this is not even hidden. Rome openly places tradition and the teaching authority of the Church alongside Scripture. That is why so many Catholics do not ask, “What does the Bible say?” They ask, “What does the Church say the Bible means?” That is exactly how people end up defending error with a Bible in their hand. Get a grip! Come down of your rebellious horse. No church gets to outrank God’s Word. No pope gets to sit above Scripture. No priest, council, catechism, tradition, or religious system has the authority to correct what God has already spoken. If you think so, you are braindead! When Scripture and your church collide, and you choose the church, you are not defending truth. You are defending a throne. One day, every throne that exalted itself above the Word of God will fall. God will destroy every system and every tradition that does not come from His word and when He does, Rome, including its supporters, will be first in line.
