@itzme_d_toxic1 Glad someone raised this point. Some of these people are behaving as if PSM took her hard earned money out of her own pocket, to build the Western Children’s Hospital. Ultimately, all tax payers pay for public infrastructure. That she spearheaded it cannot be the rationale.

@NationwideRadio @Immortal777_33 Well! Well! Well! We hope those who earlier said “there is no evidence” may now open their mouths, now that there is clear evidence! We also hope that all this loud talk of integrity in public office, isn’t just a one-sided expectation. Civil society cannot remain silent anymore.

@JamaicaGleaner @annaliesalin Are there no back-up files? No off-site storage? No cloud storage? Isn’t this the teaching hospital of the University of the West Indies? Surely you jest!! Accountability in public office must count for something. We can’t just let these things “slide”. Too much sliding going on!

China doesn’t “own” #Jamaica and there’s no “debt trap”: China is funding infrastructure projects across much of Latin America and the #Caribbean, from ports and railways to roads and energy links. Some are already completed, many others are planned or under construction. These projects are often tied to trade routes and resource flows, and form part of China’s broader global investment strategy. Over the past two decades, China has emerged as a significant partner for Jamaica, with cumulative investments, loans, and project commitments estimated at around US$2–6 billion. This includes equity FDI (roughly US$1–2 billion), major infrastructure like highways, ports, and housing built by Chinese firms, plus bauxite and urban development projects. Chinese policy bank loans (mainly Exim Bank) have funded key infrastructure, with cumulative commitments near US$2.1 billion since the mid-2000s. However, Jamaica has repaid aggressively with no major new loans since 2017. Chinese debt now accounts for just 3.9–4.5% of Jamaica’s total public debt (approximately J$2.2 trillion or US$14 billion). Officials, including former Finance Minister Nigel Clarke, have noted that 90% of the outstanding Chinese portfolio is on track for repayment within 10 years, at low fixed interest rates of 2–3%. This modest share underscores that the bulk of Jamaica’s debt is domestic and multilateral. The relationship focuses on completed projects and trade rather than new borrowing, helping Jamaica maintain fiscal discipline while benefiting from Chinese-built infrastructure.

@NationwideRadio That would be a long and unnecessarily cumbersome name for a hospital. What’s wrong with Western Children’s and Adolescent hospital? The name speaks for itself. Must the names of politicians be on everything?🤷🏽‍♂️

@NationwideRadio @Mikey01974692 There is a hierarchy in politics. Being brilliant or popular doesn’t trump the hierarchy. PJ Patterson, Portia Simpson Miller and Bruce Golding understood that political hierarchy. They played the long game and reached their goal. The youngsters need to take notes from the elders

@JamaicaGleaner @gunnerbeeks How about we charge them under the law and revoke their commission? Pleading with them to ‘desist’ seems like the egregious breach of trust isn’t being taken seriously. But then, this is what we get for appointing hordes of mass undesirables to the Justice of the Peace office.

@Zemi66 @JamaicaObserver While I love the beauty of the country & the people. You must screen individuals in public service for honesty & integrity. Some of the people there will switch the coffin you paid for. You may think you have a business partnership, but they are scheming ways to defraud you. Sad!

@NationwideRadio The key will be service. Quality & calibre of service. Route taxi operators will organically purge themselves out of the business, if they cannot compete on service and convenience with ride-share companies. The traveler wants a clean, comfortable, reliable ride, at a good price.

@JamaicaObserver The war may seem distant now. A conflict in a far away place, having little to do with daily life here. But we don’t produce oil. We depend on oil shipments to run our refinery. Those shipments are now stalled on the high seas. How many weeks of oil do we have before we run out?
