What background reading has most illuminated your teaching of Oliver Twist? Shapiro's '1606: Year of Lear' illuminated Macbeth in a different way for me - what's the equivalent for Dickens & Oliver Twist?

I think sometimes with behaviour people misunderstand that someone who is asking questions is criticising, or causing problems, or the worst one: out to get the kids. Sometimes, that person is doing their job right. I once told a school leader that I truly do not care -

If they don’t know, then it’s unlikely that all the rest of the staff will. In the coat situation, I found out from a student that the rule had changed. Some students were told midweek and it was announced to staff the following Monday. Let’s go back: I DO NOT CARE about -
