Columbia Sportswear has a new campaign in MTL. "Be the Goat". Except the French translation means to literally be the animal. "Ça, c’est un crime d’acronyme." @Columbia1938

There was an interesting paper from Turgeon et al in 2019, showing with data from 2014 that Quebecers who hold more liberal views on social issues are more supportive of bans on the public wearing of religious symbols/clothes by public servants. It’s here: bit.ly/3wNCzjt

Comparative and public law friends: finalising reading lists for a new LL.M. course on Judging in Apex Courts that I'm co-teaching with Ireland's former Chief Justice. Anyone know any great scholarship on judges and judging that I might have missed? All recommendations welcome!

Good thread. The role of LGs in the Canadian const'l system deserves more serious attention. In this case, the parallel with the LG Quebec giving royal assent to the bill abolishing the oath to the King and the (unusual) press release explaining his decision seems obvious.

The Doctrine of Discovery was only given legal life by the United States. So why do we bother talking about it in Canada? Read the latest #OpEd from #UofTLaw Professor Douglas Sanderson (Amo Binashii) here: theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…

it's actually difficult to find a single example of a referendum with turnout of less than 30%.
