The rhetorical-tactic angle you're using is a classic champagne socialists play. It boils down to this: when someone (especially in online political discourse) brandishes "empathy" as their ideological superpower, it's very often not functioning as genuine motive or emotional capacity—it's operating as a status signal, a shorthand way to claim moral superiority, police group boundaries, and fish for social approval without the costs of real sacrifice or risk.
