I am deleting the X app from all devices. I don’t want to be an active user on a platform owned by that idiot.

@RingofFire1 FYI: I’ve sent the question to Canon so he can be prepared to answer it when we record n t week.

@BehindTheShotTV The snowman is only one example. In others it will focus on her bra or other things in the scene. It seems to pick anything with greater contrast in a scene than an actual eye.

Do you have Auto Focus questions for Canon? I’m recording an updated “Canon Auto Focus Explained” show next week. Send me your AF questions for Canon.

@RingofFire1 Interesting. Well, contrast is a key component of the detecting, but it should not pick non eyes iver clearly visible ones.

@BehindTheShotTV Well stated reply. Here is an example that I shot a few weeks ago. The eye tracking kept picking the snowman in the background. It seems to pick other objects half the time and I have to aim out of frame and try again. Most of the time I have to turn it off.

@RingofFire1 Have you tried changing which face is selected? For example, in a scene with 5 people, or your case with 1 person and a snowman, you can move the AF between eyes. When it picks it's default face/eye. press the AF Point Selection button, then use the joystick to switch faces.

@RingofFire1 Sorry, one more thing… this is why I have dual-back-button AF. If eye tracking fails, because a singer may be wearing a hat or something like that, I can easily switch to point AF.

@BehindTheShotTV Mine would be why the eye tracking is so miserably inconsistent. It can never decide what to focus on and misses over 50% of the time.

@RingofFire1 Michael is getting inconsistent results from the eye tracking, as it seems to be deciding what to focus on. For him it misses over 50% of the time. 2/2

@RingofFire1 Thanks for the question. In fairness, I wouldn’t word it like that to Canon. I’m glad they’re coming back on to do this, so I don’t want questions to sound like complaints, better to sound like we are looking for help. So how abouy something like: 1/2
