#MofaUpdate🔔: 🇺🇬🤝🇨🇳 Ambassador Oliver Wonekha, Head of Uganda’s Mission in Beijing, China hosted the Chinese delegation to a dinner at Mbale Resort Hotel, where she warmly welcomed them to her home city, Mbale with the evening opening on a vibrant cultural note through a marvellous Kadodi dance widely known as the “Imbalu” dance which provided a rich and memorable traditional welcome for the delegation. In her remarks, Ambassador Wonekha highlighted the strong partnership between Uganda and China, noting 64 years of bilateral relations. She commended Chairman Wang Guiqing for leading the delegation to Uganda and assured the visitors of a pleasant and productive stay during the tour.

She further emphasized that the delegation will engage with key government MDAs, including the Uganda Investment Authority, to facilitate knowledge sharing and explore investment opportunities. She also assured them of the opportunity to witness development initiatives undertaken by various Chinese in Uganda. She reiterated that Uganda’s development agenda is focused on priority sectors such as agro-industrialisation, tourism, mineral development, and science, technology, and innovation.

The delegation spent the day on a scenic boat cruise along the Nile, where an experienced guide, David, shared fascinating insights into the river’s rich history. The Nile, first identified at this point by 𝘑𝘰𝘩𝘯 𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘬𝘦, who referred to it as the “zero point,” is formed by a combination of spring and lake water🌊and flows northwards all the way to the Mediterranean Sea. It is made up of two i.e. the White Nile and the Blue Nile.

The experience also highlighted the river’s vibrant ecosystem, home to diverse bird species such as cormorant, known to consume up to 70% of its body weight in food. Uganda’s Embassy in Beijing, China, in collaboration with the Uganda Consulate in Guangzhou, has organized an Investment Destination tour in Uganda from 10th to 23rd April 2026.

#MofaUpdate🔔: 🇺🇬🤝🇨🇳 Uganda’s Embassy in Beijing-China in collaboration with Uganda’s Consulate in Guangzhou-China, has welcomed a delegation of 40 prospective investors and industry representatives from China for the Uganda–China Coffee Investment and Destination Tour. The delegation, led by Mr. Wang Guiqing of the China Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibility Overseas, was received by Ambassador Oliver Wonekha, Head of Uganda’s Mission in Beijing-China, at Entebbe International Airport🛫.

Held under the theme “A Trade, Investment & Market Immersion Mission,” the tour will run from 12th to 23rd April 2026, focusing on key areas such as agro-industrialisation, tourism, mineral-based industrial development, and science, technology and innovation (ATMS), with the aim of promoting Uganda as a prime destination for trade and investment.

The Uganda Embassy in Beijing made a bold and vibrant statement at HOTELEX Shanghai 2026 with a dedicated national booth themed “From the Source of the Nile to the Streets of Shanghai.” The showcase highlighted Uganda’s finest coffee, teas, and specialty dairy products.
