“It always seems impossible… until it’s done.” That line isn’t just motivation. It’s a pattern. A thread on how to make an impossible outcome become possible. 1/n

@Bejiwale This is the point where you need to take a pause and reflect on what's actually happening, then realign.

You are not always stuck because you need more. Sometimes you are stuck because your life is not aligned with what you say you want.

It is hard to focus when your heart is troubled. Sometimes stepping away is what helps you return with more clarity.

A lot of people are not ignored because their ideas are weak. They are ignored because their message is unclear.

Here's a smart way of using AI for academic writing purposes Ask AI to generate a write-up on a given topic. Take that write-up and start writing your own sentences based on that. Along the way, fill in the gaps the AI left, and add citations. Your text will be 100% human.

@MushtaqBilalPhD This is very strategic. There has to be a commesurate human effort to leverage AI tools for academic writing.

You’re not bad. You’re just easy to ignore. Nothing you say is wrong. Nothing you do is terrible. But nothing stands out. So people scroll. Not because you lack value. Because you don’t interrupt anything.

@olumuyiwaayo I have found the lack of knowing what is possible, understanding where to start, and fear of rejection to be some of the factors holding most prospective applicants back.

Unpopular opinion: most students start their scholarship search way too late — and with zero strategy. What's the #1 thing that held YOU back from applying? 👇

The early understanding of hidden curriculum in grad school is a huge leverage. Unfortunately, these are not explicitly taught in the classroom and the cost is often quiet but deeply significant. It shows up in missed opportunities, reduced visibility & unnecessary self-doubt
Dr. Banda Khalifa MD, MPH, MBA@dr_bandak

Graduate school has a curriculum no one formally teaches. The syllabus covers the coursework. The unwritten part shapes the experience. ➤ That curriculum no one teaches is learned quietly, often the hard way. It includes things like: → How to network without sounding transactional ↳ building real professional relationships → How to ask for help early ↳ before small problems become major ones → How to manage ambiguity ↳ when the answers are incomplete and the path is unclear → How to walk rooms with powerful people ↳ speaking with confidence, listening with care, reading the room → How to receive feedback without losing confidence ↳ improving the work without collapsing your sense of self → How to recover from rejection ↳ and still keep showing up ➤ Some students do well in class and still struggle with the environment. Others learn how to do both. ➤ That difference often shapes: → who merely finishes ↳ and who leaves transformed by the process Looking back, many of the lessons that stayed with me were never graded. ➤ They still shaped me the most. 💬 What is one unwritten lesson you learned in graduate school?

@dr_bandak Thank you for highlighting these so well. So many grad students are already excellent. What is often missing is the understanding of the hidden curriculum, access to the right rooms, and how to be part of conversations that shape opportunity rather than limitation.

@Bejiwale Good communication isn't about sounding smart and using bogous language. You really have to be clear enough so that your audience can understand and flow with you.

Dr Iretioluwa Akerele
I will be speaking at TEDx University of Greater Manchester next Thursday on the topic: “The rooms we build matter more than the seats we take.” This session promises to be insightful as I’ll be sharing perspectives on building spaces that create opportunities and drive lasting impact. I will explore what it means to move beyond simply occupying positions, and instead focus on shaping environments where others can grow, thrive, and lead. This event is an opportunity to learn and connect with great minds in various fields. If you’re interested in attending, here is the link to register 👇🏾 eventbrite.co.uk/e/tedx-univers…
